**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Did you tell them it was water damaged, I'm pretty sure their swap service involves no checks

Nope just sent it in. I would have argued that but having been with Google since the Nexus 1 sadly I have returned a few and you are bang on .they do zero checks. Just replace .

Has anyone else experienced a decrease in performance from they're 2XL recently?

I just watched that this morning, interesting. I've have a few dropped frames a couple of times, its quite noticeable sometimes. But not a lot. I have animations set to 0.5 in the Dev options - not sure how much of a difference that would make.

I've just got my replacement from Google which I've just finished setting up, so I now actually have two 2XL's, one my old one running the beta and my new one that is a fresh setup device running Oreo.

I'll do a side by side when I'm home later and see if I can notice a difference.

On a side note I wish Android would include a slider for the Animation speed so we could have more options. I normally find around 0.75 to be the sweet spot.

Can't remember which ROM I was using, but I've definitely used one that had 0.25 increments... might have been Lineage/Cyanogen.

I have occasionally noticed a lag on mine particularly just after waking the phone up or taking off charge but it's not a big deal and day to day performance is still fine. Perhaps it's not quite as snappy as a 1+6 but then it's using an older SOC and has less RAM so perhaps it's to be expected.

Mind I do have to say, updates excepted there seems to be less and less reasons get a vanilla android phone these days. What with this issue plus the 1+6 gestures putting Android Ps to shame it seems they are getting beaten at their own game in some respects.

Dropped my phone on holiday and smashed the screen, bank insurance want £100 excess, assuming I can't get a genuine fix at that price keeping the waterproof rating etc anywhere else ....?

Just started noticing a weird issue with my calendar.

I have an up to date calendar on my phone (using google calendar) but if i log into gmail on my pc and check the calendar its empty. If i add an event/appointment etc on the pc it syncs to my phone straight away.

So pc to phone is fine, phone to pc doesnt work.

Any ideas? Sure its worked previously.

Do you have the actual google calendar on your pc populated when you login to that ? https://calendar.google.com/calendar/r
Just checked mine in Gmail (the new version) and it's populated with all my events and tasks. And I can add an event/task on my pixel 2xl and it syncs with the pc (chrome) and visa versa.

Blank on my pc. Also blank of I log in via the phone (chrome etc).

I have other apps like Google keep that I used and they sync fine.

£100 is pretty good. Unless you can do It yourself. But even then you might loose warranty so I would go with the bank

Sounds daft but do you have the Calendar enabled to show on the the left hand side on the web version ?
Also I had problems when I first got my phone with duplicates because me and the other half have a calendar for us both and another calendar for our girls (doctors etc) but the calendar on my phone is called Events, on the web version it's called something else. You cannot change the name on your phone which make it confusing.
On the web version if you click on Main menu(top left) so it displays all your calendars. Is the one you are having problems with checked ?

Can anyone recommend a case, had the genuine Google fabric case but dropped my handset and the screen cracked so looking at alternatives :)

Cheers
