**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

For those who have received their Pixel 2 phones, are you finding the "Active Edge" feature making you more inclined to use Google Assistant than previous ways to access it? Here is one user who finds this feature useful and not a gimmick.

I am really looking FWD to it when my XL arrives. I use Google a lot I am very dyslexic so use ok Google a lot more than most. Always feel a dick saying it though ... So having the squeeze will be nice

Ohh, a saturated screen. So much want, I mean, it's a phone right? It's not like I'm going to make calls with it and put it next to my head so the screen isn't actually on.

FFS guys, just buy the phone and use it. I've had mine 2 weeks and it's brilliant. I couldn't give a flying toss if the red is red or the blue is not calibrated to sRGB blue, it really, just, doesn't, matter.....

Others do I guess. I was not fussed. But I like options so I like Google listened and gave options.

Choice is good

@Django x2 You have the smaller Pixel 2, that has a completely different screen without any of the issues that the bigger XL 2 has.

My issue is simply how much the device costs, for £800 or £900 I expect it to be at least as good as the competition, if not better. Anyway, not long now, this time next week I should have it and with any luck I'll know if its a keeper on not. :D

So I came to a conclusion after playing with the iPhone X. Absolutely nothing comes close to that screen, or that hardware...but I can't deal with iOS.

What that experience did though... Was make me realise that despite the fact we want perfection, there is always something better....always. So, if we set that aside what are we left with.... What is the device that best serves you day in day out... And that's what brought me full circle back to Pixel 2XL. I'm ordering it, keeping it and everytime I look at another screen with envy, will remember my camera, software and butter smooth performance...I'll be annoyed but I'll be happier in general - android fits my use case best, and the best android experience is on a Pixel.

You, sir, have managed to put into words what I've been trying to since forever.

As you said, there's always a compromise. For me, the screen isn't as much of a compromise as smoothness or regular updates for 3 years.

I have come to the conclusion that lots of this screen stuff is utter BS and lots of regurgitated stories coming from pretty much click bait add filled news sites.

I have played with the XL 2 and yes it's not as great as the Samsung's / iPhone but it's still a fantastic screen. The blue shift is also visible on the s8. Just not a bad.

With the update and colour choices it's a great phone.

Will get mine this week or next and then give a full test

Mine still says dispatching on the 14th and delivered on 15 – 17 Nov, has done since I ordered it.

Mine from CPW says DPD expected to pick up 20 November to arrive next business day. I did order it a day after launch so perhaps that is why it is a little later than others.

Hi Sesevans,

How are you able check your order status from CPW, as I have ordered the Panda 2XL 128gb from their.

Also we will get our Google Mini at the same time as our phone?

Bashy

Wait, you mean you didn't order it straight from Google the minute it was available? Mr Google, I am amazed. :p

Hi

At the bottom of the page of my receipt from CPW is the "Customer Care Team" phone number. I called 08700870168, spoke to a team member who asked for my Customer Number listed on the receipt. They found my order from 5 October (one day after launch on 4 October) which included the Pixel 2 XL 64 GB White (Panda) and Google Home Mini as part of my "pre-order". They stated that the Panda and the Mini would arrive in store on 20 November and the delivery of my package (both items) would be via DPD on the next business day.

Hope that helps. Let us know how you get on.

Ha! You missed the memo.....I explained this in an earlier post.

I did order the Panda Pixel 2 XL on 4 October (launch date) from the Google Play Store, but a few minutes after they were made available. Because the demand was so strong I was given a delivery date of mid December.

The next day I walked into a CPW store and told that I could receive the Panda and Mini one day after they receive stock on 20 November and assured that if there were any problems with the phone I would have the same warranty coverage as if I bought from the Play Store. I was given a DPD home delivery slot one day later on the 21st.

I ordered the combo from CPW and cancelled my Play Store order. I then asked others on this site about their experience with CPW and the comments seemed sufficiently ok for me to take CPW at their word.

Happy now?
