If you’re displaying most full screen video on a phone with a notch then you’re chopping off both the top and the bottom of the image anyway as most videos aren’t in the same aspect ratio as the iPhone X screen.

dear god the XL is an abomination. I honestly hoped Google we're trolling the hell out of us with that leak and they are in fact going to release a good looking phone with no notch at all.
That hope is fading fast!!

not to mention only 4gb of ram!
 
That's a massive notch sized nope from me! I think I'll be looking at the Pixel 3 non-XL, or the Note 9 when it comes to upgrade time!

It's 98% bs but I wish this were true. Warning - it's clickbaity but TLDR is there was an advert for an EA game that featured something that looked like a new Pixel, and the design in the advert sort of matched an image from one of the Android Pie beta documents.

My dreams of a 5.8" bezel less pixel phone is absolutely over. Will never happen.
Pixel 3 non XL is close, but not close enough....and I guess it will be £629+?

I'm thinking along the same lines now. That notch has lost a customer so I'm hoping there's a decent improvement over the 6 when the 6T's released.

Troll of the century and incredibly dumb. They don't have the brand recognition that Apple have so by making their customers think the notch is that big they're potentially pushing them towards competitors phones.

Dear god that phone is an absolute munter. Glad I didn't wait for it and instead just got the 2xl which is where I'll now be staying until they either sort it out or I jump ship.

At least the iPhone X notch is reasonably well integrated in the design. This just looks like someone gave a 4 year old a crayon and asked them to copy it, badly.

Why do Google always manage to get something wrong on their phones??
 
They didn't in the past. The Nexus 5,6,6P and pixel 1 were very very good.
This whole notch thing is just embarrassing though really... Really thought Google had a bit more self esteem!
 
I think Google will get mocked by everyone for the notch more than anything throughout the life of the Pixel 3. I'd rather buy an iPhone 8 or a OP6x than this without any doubt, even if it means moving to a lower res screen display. I certainly don't mind a notch but that makes me see a fat version of Johnny 5 now.
