**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

If you want a super snappy experience then change the 3 transition speeds from 1 to 0.5 in the development options. I do this on all android devices. Makes a difference

Joining this club soon. Upgrading from my Nexus 5x.

Called EE as the upgrade deal via the website did not suit, I am not a huge data user. Managed to get what I think is a decent deal:
Free Pixel 3 64gb Black
Free Google Home Hub
1GB data, unlimited calls, unlimited texts. (I have a 5GB data boost from home broadband)
£ 30.60 per month (with 10% discount) 24 months. (£ 734.40)
£ 6.98 delivery.

I was going to wait till prices dropped and buy it sim free, but I feel its unlikely the price would ever drop low enough based on the above.
Plus a free Home Hub.

(Waiting patiently for a call to say its an error :p)

Not a bad deal!

I presume the 5gb is 4g data ? If so 6gb should be fine if you can manage it. I use around 15gb a month out of my 60gb but never bother using WiFi at home

Yes, 4g.
Wifi at home and work, so data usage is limited to out and about and holidays. Had a historical look through data usage and I struggle to use 2GB some months.
Got my wife the same deal as well.
DPD delivering phone tomorrow. Well chuffed. :)

I know most like it naked, but just need to choose a case and screen protector now. Had a Ringke Fusion case on the 5x and its been really good. Mixed reviews on the Pixel 3 version though.

It's not that great is it? (As in, for it to be a pricing error) You can apparently get the same on IDMobile for £530 all in over 24 months. Of course, you wouldn't get your 5GB booster, which is kind of crucial.

Yeah, was slightly tongue in cheek. Previous times I've tried to upgrade, it's always been better to just buy the phone.
As I had told my wife I would buy her one as well, it was a significant outlay. This softens the blow and means my wife can pay for her own :p
It also means I get it now, rather than waiting for a sale of some sort.

Anyone using the Pixel Buds? I'm thinking about picking some up as I listen to a lot of music but also really interested in the smart features.

Especially listening to music around the office and having it ping in my ear that I've had a text message and for the Google assistant to read it out to me... Is that possible? Then I could reply to that message through the buds?

The in-ears I use at the moment have little rubber buds on the end that are more comfortable than the hard plastic you get with the Google ear buds, is it possible to get some sort of rubber grommet for the buds?

What's a good price to buy at? Never been in the wireless game.

The text app call taafta or something like that does the read out text thing when you've got a headset

It's good, but needs a way to shut it the hell up. Sometimes you're on a call and it reads the text into your ear over the person's voice, and imagine it going off with a delivery text. Reading out h t t p forward slash semi colon w w w dot Google dot com forward slash rewards forward slash claim your reward forward slash etc.

I don't know of any other apps that do this but would be interested if there's better

Pixel 3 has arrived and I am well chuffed.
Never knew the transfer old phone thing even existed. Plugged my Nexus 5x into the Pixel 3, Left it to do its thing. Came back 10 minutes later and the phone is ready to go. Impressed.
Still getting used to the pill, can`t get out of the habit of just pressing for the app drawer. I like the "At a glance feature", that goes straight to calendar or weather.
I had the clock on the home screen of the 5x, which made getting to alarms and timers easy. Took me a while to figure out you can click on the time in the notification bar to do the same thing. kept going into settings :p
Camera is awesome as expected. Bluetooth works fine with my home equipment and the car.
So far so good.
Without trawling back through the thread, any other tips/suggestions/things I must do?

Enable swipe down on the fingerprint scanner to being down the notification tray...if you haven't already

Would not bother with those buds. Much better one the market for a lot less money

And I think more and more are building in Google Assistant. Fairly sure my XM3's will announce notifications and I can reply, I don't often use them with my phone though.

I have a pair of £23 Bluetooth headphones that came from AliExpress that have basic voice controls. Google's offering is 15 months old now. And should have been true wireless back then. Unless they slash the price I think you are paying over the odds for outdated design

Never tried can you post photo in this forum direct from Google photos ? I know you can share a link and paste that in.

Also regarding photos. How do you tag people ? So you can then search for them ?
