**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

I personally prefered the slightly over saturated, and deeper contrast of the Pixel 3. The XS seemed a bit too bright for me.

Video and mic quality is its weakness though, and there isn't really any excuses at this price point.

Completely agree, the video and mic quality is quite shocking for something that carries such a hefty price tag.

I kinda agree although i think i would still take a pixel 3 for my photos if I had the choice. I am dissapointed by the video recording and mic though that looks terrible tbh low res and blurry compared to iphone and samsung.

Seeing as I record a lot of guitar videos this was something I was hoping would atleast be on par with the competition now i feel i am pushed to either go for the xs max or note 9 but I have a note 8 and the 9 isnt much of an update. And im not a massive fan of ios grr...

We must be looking at different reviews as the pixel 3 camera (for stills) produces the better images to me and look less saturated than the XS.
Video does appear poor though in comparison.

The stills on the 3XL do look great, but there is not a huge difference to the 2XL with the cameras. I was expecting something to completely wipe the floor with the competition but it's not done that at all.

I watched Supersaf and The Tech Chap videos comparing the 3XL to the XS Max, as much of an android fanboy I am the iPhone camera 9 times out of 10 takes the better photo. This is partly due to the limitation of just one lens on the 3XL I believe (especially in portrait mode).

Looking forward to MKBHD's blind test video but not really anticipating the in depth 3XL review as he has shown clear bias to the Pixel range in the past imo.

The Tech Chaps images from his testing had wonderful colour, white balance and saturation although they are a little over sharpened for my taste, especially in the portrait selfies. Supersaf's images had a magenta cast on all of them though, like the white balance was wrong and the images did not look correct to me at all, nothing like what came from the Verge review or TTC. I can't help but feel that something is not right/wrong with his phone for them to appear this way.

I am also surprised at just how bad the mic is on the Pixel.

When are we getting some proper comparison reviews? All we seem to have are camera comparisons at present. I want to see how it compares with its peers.

Camera reviews seem to suggest it's the best camera out there and better than the 2XL. Both take great photos, as mentioned I'm not sure if video and audio is that bad or maybe a software update can cure it.

Well after finally finding a shop near me that has a working Pixel 3 I walked out with a Sony XZ3. Due to the following reasons.

Better Display, Better Price and the front facing speakers are better sounding. The Sony isn't heavily skinned with bloatware and does get timely updates so I am not losing out to much in that department and I have a Panasonic Lumiz TZ 100 for when I want really good Photos and 4K video so still camera being a bit better on the Google 3 is not important to me.

Its a shame as I really had hoped it was the device I would be getting but it just fell short in the areas that matter to me.

Cancelled my Pixel XL order just doesn't interest me anymore. Went with Mate 20 Pro, seems more bang for your buck. Mind I'll probably sell that a few months after owning it to fund something else. HTC exodus, mi mix 3 or something, round and round in circles.

I'm tempted to do the same - I'm gonna wait for some proper reviews to come out, I've got until the beginning of November to decide anyway so no huge deal at the moment.

I think the camera is a bit of a disappointment in the 3 and not much different to the camera in the 2.

Quite a few YouTubers have done iPhone XS/ P3XL camera comparisons and the only area I see the P3XL coming out on top is the front facing camera, everything else the iPhone XS takes better shots. A bit disappointing for the Android camp but will be interesting to see how the Mate 20 pro fares.

For me the pixel is a pretty clear winner. The iPhone seems to brighten the shadows to aggressively most of the time.
