**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

I can't say I've noticed this slow down issue. My 2XL is working fine. Has anyone actually experienced this issue outside of a YT reviewer holding 2 phones side by side and urging you not to blink or you'll miss it?

Orrrrrrrrr the continuous poorly optimised software updates?

I am using a Samsung S8 which has 4gb of RAM. And it's plenty snappy.
I don't think it's that. He mentioned in his video his current Pixel 2 had a DP installed so he got a second stock Pixel 2 and installed the same apps and that slowed down as well.

They didn't in the past. The Nexus 5,6,6P and pixel 1 were very very good.
This whole notch thing is just embarrassing though really... Really thought Google had a bit more self esteem!

I agree. Personally I think the 6p has been the best phone google have produced.
Loved that phone. The smaller pixel 1 was pretty damn good as well.

**** the notch, look at that chin...

I personally think you're reaching for things if you say the chin is too big. It's the same as the Pixel 2 XL, which is just about right to me. Any more and you're basically looking at edge to edge. Yes, others have smaller, or basically no chin, but that doesn't mean this is 'big'. It's about the same as the Huewai P20 Pro for example. Given it has stereo front facing speakers, I think it's fine.

MKBHD released a video about his daily driver and he's moved over to the OnePlus 6, from the Pixel 2, because he found the Pixel 2 quite laggy in comparison. That's got to be RAM related tbh.
It is a combination of crap 'beta android software and the ram yes.

Like it or not, 4GB is NOT enough in a 2018 device today - it just isn't enough and I'd say 6GB min.

Apps are every day being updated and continously eating up more ram and resources and don't get started on the billion google services constantly doing the same. As you stated it's been proven that more ram does help and MKHDHBD's observations just remind me of the 6P all over again - an absolutely perfect phone that got bogged down by constant 'beta' android updates right upto the point when the first Pixel was being announced - nice and timely.

I'm not convinced. My S8+ has 4GB of RAM and remains quick under normal use. Don't get me wrong, for a device with a price tag like the Pixel3 will have, it makes no sense but they'll still sell decent numbers.

I thought MKBHD said it was down to the chips failing, and not a ram limitation?

That said, I've read time and time again that android just isn't designed that well under the hood and no amount of tinkering will fix it. It needs ram.

Maybe, maybe not. But look at the image.

Heres a link to the full res image - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DkuesyXUYAAFmKo.jpg:orig

Look at the amount of space between the speaker and the pill.

Don't forget half of that black is screen though.

Is it me or does the notch not look as bad in that image? (Don't get me wrong, still not great, but not as bad?) In the first we saw, there looked to be a good few mm between the lenses and the top of the device. In that newer image, the lenses look almost to touch the top of the phone? It's weird as I'm sure it's the same guy, same phone, same time, just different angles.

**EDIT** Maybe it's just all that white reflection of the screen protector on the second angle...

Come on everyone, let's get along... after all, the Google shill's perma-banned now, so the thread won't be peppered with robot PR nonsense!

I'm getting along pretty well with the P20 Pro, and the notch doesn't even impact day to day use at all... yes, it's there and Apple-y, but it's not as massive an annoyance (for me) as it's made out to be... Obviously everyone's mileage may vary as with everything ;-)

I couldn't ignore him because it hid these threads, glad I don't have to put up with their nonsense any more :)

He seemed pretty pro-Trump so may said something out of turn to the wrong person, or maybe they were found out to be the shill they truly were? who knows?!
