**** The Official Google Pixel 4 Thread ****

I went for the blackish one. Will see what's it's like and if a bit crap will send back. Got a cheap rubber one from Amazon at the moment

I gotta say using the phone today and seeing 90htz kick in its so smooth and noticeable. Setting up last night it was not really on as it was late and I had the brightness turned down. Clearly needs a tweak from Google but I see that is coming.

I can imagine it looks really jarring though when it runs at 90Hz then steps down?

I thought you could lock 90hz in the developer options for those who don't want to wait for the update. Or does this brightness thing override that other option?

I’m still interested in the 4xl even after the negative reviews because I still like the concept. I just hope they can sort some of the worse bugs..

If you have critical comments then go ahead and discuss them. Don't be put off by those who have made their commitment without research and now making all sorts of compromises to convince themselves.

Like this fella, he filters it all out on his quest for blissful ignorance. :p

Maybe some I have on ignore are fanboying, so I'm not seeing it...

Yes, there is a cabal on this thread who were always going to buy the Pixel 4, come what may, no matter what issues the device might have (and once again, Google have worked their magic when it comes to producing a flawed product). This same cabal will not tolerate any discussion which is not forelock tugging obsequious acceptance that the Pixel 4 is a great product.

Yes you are! :P

Tbh its a lot better than r/GooglePixel! You can't say a bad word about the phones in there without being downvoted into oblivion. r/Android is much better, although they are a little Oneplus bias.

Ah the only review that matters. :D

That's me. I don't know why that would mean I would have any bias though? I bought the 3 XL, but I sent it back and used the Mate 20 Pro for the next 6 months. I buy lots of devices, I keep a small proportion of them. It wouldn't be very good for a tech reviewer if they said everything they bought was great, just because they bought it! :)

Not really. It's just there are a group with apparent bias, that when you point out something that isn't great or perfect (as we have been doing in our balanced way) they want to twist it to something else (such as the not great battery life meaning you are tied to a desk for the day, rather than needing a 30 minute top up at some point, for example). But anyone that dared buy this highly flawed device and is enjoying it can apparently can only be because they're a fanboy!?

**EDIT** Oh, battery update. It's been better today, I got home from work with 50% left still. So off charge at 7:30am, then 50% at 4:45pm. Still not amazing, but better than yesterday. Also, I turned off 90hz this morning :) I'll need more experimenting to see if that was a big difference or it's just settling in now. (About 1hr 45 SOT I think)

I have then been jogging, using the P4 to track, for 40 mins and spent 20 mins on video call... so now I'm down to 21%... but not too bad.
