The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

I've been cheesing out a bunch of Druid wins for my 'Win 5 Druid games' quest with Barnes, Deathwing Dragonlord and Innervate. There's nothing more satisfying that a mill druid killing a Deathwing for me to pull 2 more and instantly play them :)

A smart mill Druid will be killing your Barnes and his own Oracles while completely ignoring your piddly 1/1s because you can't race him faster than he can kill you. He can even ignore one full size Deathwing, usually.

Which decks should I focus on mostly? Classic, gods, or the other one?

Or should I save gold for solo adventures?

Only buy solo adventures with gold if you plan to be completely F2P. If you're going to buy anything, they are the most efficient purchase - the full Karazhan adventure will cost you 28 packs worth of gold but only 14 packs worth of cash.

For packs: buy one Old Gods pack to get your free C'thun if you don't already have it, but not more unless you're splurging. The best place for new players to get cards is Arena, which currently awards one Old Gods pack per run in addition to a bit of gold and dust. This will help you build towards making a basic C'thun deck, which is the idea.

Other than that, Classic packs are a good bet because they won't rotate out and contain a lot of staple cards for every class. The Tavern Brawl will give you one Classic pack a week as well.

Haven't tried the arena yet. 150g to win 12 games sounds a bit of a gamble not in my favour

You get prizes at all levels including a guaranteed pack. A seven win average allows infinite play - you get back at least the 150G entry fee in addition to other rewards at 7-3 - but in terms of value you break even at three wins.

More importantly, Arena lets you practice your play skills in a format where the size of your personal collection doesn't matter. Obviously some people get offered better cards in the draft, but there's as much chance of you having the super-strong deck as anyone else.

If you are average at arena you will be lucky to get above 3 wins. I recommend to watch a guy called Kripparrian if you want to get good at arena.

The line is so thin between winning and losing in arena that a slight miss play can cost you the game.

I would stay very far away from arena until you have a good understanding of how to grind out wins as most games are very close match ups for the first 5-6 turns at least.

I've played quite a bit of arena but just suck at it.

I also never seem to get draws that synergise well - I realise this is because I'm poor at picking, but meh. CBA with the whole game at present, it just isn't engaging.

My first double legend pack
**** you! Only kidding congrats on that amazing pack

Use heartharena, there is an app you can download that shows up in game and gives recommendations on your drafts saving you the time of typing it all in manually on the internet.

Arena Tier list is T1 Mage, T2 Rogue Shaman and Paladin, T3 Warlock, Warrior and the rest is trash.

I'm currently 6-0 in my Shaman run it's my first arena in months.

Kripp isn't even one of the five best Arena streamers. Streamers you want to watch for Arena:

Shadybunny - heavy coaching content, ideal for newbies.

A_Isherwood - the second (I think) person to complete the original 100 in 10 Challenge (record 100 wins in 10 runs without repeating classes unless forced). More salt than the Dead Sea sometimes, but he also explains in detail and his stream is smaller than Shady's so he's more likely to answer questions.

GrinningGoat - the duo of ADWCTA and Merps, who created the original HearthArena tier list and now I think do the same for Lightforge. Pretty heavy on the theorycrafting and they like to experiment, but they do give their reasoning. Literally the people who tell everyone else what to pick.

itshafu - great player, but she plays very fast and doesn't explain half as much so consider her an advanced option.

So I bought the 10 packs and legend and guess what.....

I got a legend I already have

Got a golden epic (I already had)

Got 1180 dust from 10 packs.

That's 5 euros I won't get back again.

I got so few standard legends as well :(

Whatever competence I was starting to develop has gone full circle. I've won a single ranked match out of at least 15, but its probably more. This is at rank 22. I don't understand how there are so many people with great decks (a couple were whipping out legendary after legendary) yet are still in the 25-21 bracket where you can't lose stars. Surely these people should have hit 20 ages ago.

Everyone is struggling to ladder climb. The meta is the worst it has ever been and you won't rank up unless your playing competitive decks.

I would normally break rank 5 every season but now i'm just happy to get to rank 10 and even that is a challenge right now as I don't play flavor of the month decks.

**** you! Only kidding congrats on that amazing pack

i think i hit the pity timer though (40 packs) well it felt like that anyway.

and to top it off i have both of them.

I would normally break rank 5 every season

this makes me feel crap at the game,

i have peaked at rank 6 since i started playing.

i can make rank 10 every season but i cant seem to get any further than that. (i only play 3-5 games a day though)

i like to play fun decks, this season its been dragon druid for me

Thanks for this only know itshafu from watching Trump. Completely different play styles they both have. She doesn't explain but is very fast at calculating possible outs where as Trump is painfully slow to watch as he takes the rope to calculate but can be more entertaining as he will describe his thought process including bad plays.

trump is very imformative i find.

the most epic roping person is lifecoach though. he will rope turn 1 without a 1 drop.

its suprising how much youtubers affect the meta, kripp has a massive following and he can influence the meta a lot.
