The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

Haha just when I think I've finally got it I run up against a deck that completely wipes the floor with mine XD

Still struggling to get past 5 wins in the arena, which I've only managed once :(

Cheers mate, im not one for copying decks completely as up until now i've realised my decks have been sucking so i went with a starter warlock deck and its much better.

I seen a murloc based warlock deck it looked mega fun!

Finally started to win some games with the druid, it's surprising how much difference a few cards can make.
It turned out I needed more late game cards.

God this rank reset is a stupid proposition. I had worked up to 21 after a week and now I cant win a thing because all the <25 players are starting again from 25, so any match throws me up against people with much better decks and strategy. I think they just broke any interest the game had for me; at least for a few days until the good players have cleared off up the ranks again...

I'm dodging ladder for a while until it settles. I consider myself above average at the game but I can't beat legendary players/decks. Got to rank 7 last season, going to try for 5 this time.

This morning I had an *amazingly* satisfying victory, playing a warrior deck against another warrior... We were fairly even up to a point but then he got in a very good turn that had me trying to catch up, then got real greedy and broke out his Arcanite Reaper and attacked me direct with what minions he had out - ignoring the minions I had on the board.

I was down to 1 health and he clearly was patting himself on the back, with 20 health left and saying "Hmm well played" hurr hurr hurr

I won :D... 2 amazing turns where I wiped his board, swamp-oozed his reaper and then used a shieldmasta followed by classic stormwind champion play to destroy him (one of the minions he ignored was a warsong commander too which helped!)

had a priest draft in arena last night and had my best result so far going 6 wins.

I found the following video really useful in drafting priest, using a curve with heavy 2's. 4's and a few bigger minions with decent HP is a decent playstyle around the priest hero ability. Skip to about 5 mins for the draft

Ignore the fact that his vid is a bit old with mind control at 8 mana, the principle is the same and it seemed to work for me at least.

Decided to finally install having never bothered activating my closed beta invitation.

Game is quite nice presentation wise - Never played something like before quite enjoyed it so far.

Okay i got extrmelley lucky last night opened two packs and what did i get...

First pack contained, Gold Mana Wrym (think thats how its spelt), Edwin Vancleef and Lore walker cho.

Next pack i opened i got Molten Giant, Archmage Antonidas and a gold Auchenai Spellpriest(i think thats its name).

So yeah i have no idea if i should keep these or disenchant them, i'd really like to make a strong warlock deck, not sure what to have in it yet though, Maybe disenchant all these and get Lord Jaraxxus? or illidan or i was thinking a nice leeroy jenkins with power overwhelming, i dunno, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Tom I would probably focus on making sure you have all of the decent neutral cards (or neutrals that go well with warlock decks) and any of the recommended warlock cards (like shadowflame - see above) before you worry about saving up a load of dust for a legendary - it probably won't win you games every time on its own

I'm still raging at mages in Arena; fireball, pyroblast and flamestrike just seem to be too strong at the moment. Most mages seem to pick every one of these they get offered in the draft so it's typical to come up against 3x flamestrikes or fireballs which is just ridiculous. Granted you can try to play around those cards a little bit, but I feel like it needs tweaking

Thanks for the advice, i was just about to say what about this deck?

I have all of the cards, the only ones im missing are Jaraxxus, Twisting nether, pitlord and void terror.

EDIT: I could put in a faceless manipulator inplace of the twisting nether or something.

I've won a lot of games on my priest but i enjoy playing the warlock a hell of a lot more.

Cheers.

What Uncle Rufus said.

You got some good cards there though Lorewalker Cho is not really viable in any decks especially competitive ones. You could use the 400 dust from DE'ing him to get a decent Epic or 4 Rares. I'd keep the others.

Jaraxxus is overated. You'd use him if you have him but you wouldn't build a deck around him or craft him. For example Jaraxxus is terrible in a warlock mirror as your opponent can just use Sacrificial Pact for 0 mana and kill your hero outright. Leeroy is really good in a lot of decks. Even control.

Most legendaries really aren't worth the dust if you haven't got the epics and rares you need. Ragnaros and Ysera being 2 exceptions IMHO.

The best advice is to netdeck in the beginning and adjust your deck according to what you have. It's generally a bad idea to start using all your dust just to create a single deck you've seen on the internet. Look up some cheap Warlock aggro decks. They can be quite successful on the ladder and don't cost much.

I like the slow play control warlock. Got this deck to Rank 7 or 8 last season. I don't main Warlock btw but I do think he's one of the best if not the best class.

Thanks mate, i really appreciate the advice, i really enjoy playing the warlock, im only rank 20 atm anyways so i'm still fairly nooby :P

I came up against a Warlock in Arena this morning, he had a pretty crazy deck - first turn he coined into 2 blood imps, then on the next turn he played 2 more blood imps!!!!

By that point I did have some stuff out on the board of course (I think I had a shattered sun cleric and a raptor) but from that point every minion he played would more than likely get buffed by all the imps right away and I wasn't drawing any board clear to deal with them...

Some time later I had held out okay but by then some of the imps were at about 8 health - he plays a reckless rocketeer and then immediately after a void terror which swallowed up one of the mega-buffed blood imps and the rocketeer ending up something crazy like an 8-12.

I did still win in the end but it was really really close... Someday I'm sure we'll all draft an insane deck like that in arena

Handlockkkkkkkk. I played against 2 of these last night around R18, a fairly expensive deck considering the epic count and I was hoping to avoid them at such a level :(

I don't have much respect for Void terror as it's effectively costing you 2/3 cards and you might just get removed/silenced and then you've lost your tempo etc... I guess swallowing 1 manas aint bad but the way it can eat at your advantage means I don't want to play it. Likewise with twisting nether - too expensive for the effect to me and it's a dead card in both rush/murloc/really hard to use - handlock. Jaraxxus won't work in murloc/rush so if you really do want him I'd only do it after you have the rest of the control deck.

I'd dust Cho instantly if you have a missing epic (like another giant for handlock). That's 2 argus + 2 harvest golems right there alternatively.

I'm gonna play about tonight, i quite like high pressure decks, but im gonna test out the control one as much as i can card wise, will let you know how it goes :)

Also, was i extrmelly lucky with the packs or has it happened like that for you guys before?

Yeah they can be nasty. Silence and hard removal is definitely needed. So many synergies in this deck though that I keep returning to it.

3 legendaries in 2 packs? Yes that is extremely lucky. On average you would expect 1 legendary per 20 packs. Each card in each pack has 1% chance of being a legendary.
