The Official Hearthstone : Heroes of Warcraft Thread

The hounds you mean? Yeah they count as beasts so you get card draw from the buzzard, buffs for the hyena when they die etc.

Leeroy would indeed be good in that situation as depending on what your opponent had on the board you would be almost guaranteed to be able to sack off the two whelps and end up keeping him alive for the next turn

Ahh nice, is the hyena the card that gets +1 or +2 (not sure) damage for each minion that dies?

Throwing in a knife juggler would be pretty lethal too.

Seems like a nice combo.

I think it gets +2+1 for each beast that dies... the cultmaster draws a card for each minion that dies (so it also goes well)

Knife juggler is awesome too, although can't be relied upon to hit exactly what you want most of the time (just like mad bomber!)

On another note - 1000th post :D :D :D :D :D

Ceeeeeeelleeeebraaate good times COME ON.... do do do do do... members market baby!!!!!

Once you have Leeroy you can make the best Hunter Rush deck(s) easily. This is the deck I'm using to rush through from 25 to 10+ before I swap over to Paladin. Only difference is I've changed out Worgen Infiltrator for Tinkmaster Overspark (extra taunt bypass). Played correctly anyone can get to 13/14 at least with this deck.

Just started this least night - so far have unlocked Druid and played it to level 5, so am about as new a newby as ever was new.

Username is Mockingbird in-game too, so keep an eye out in case you find youself thrashing me.

The learning curve can be steep at times, keep at it its fun.

Have grinding bots been written for this game?

In arena this player was continuity mousing over my hero+power and cards on every turn. They took the almost the full time on every turn as well, it just felt strange.

not a bad result from a horrible arena run 1-3 :p

Awww man I wish I would get a legendary out of a pack!!!

Think I've had about 6 or 7 packs so far all from arena, best result was 5-3, but still the absolute best thing I've got from the whole lot is a single Savannah highmane

Guess what i got in a 100g pack yesterday, no word of a lie, a gold baron geddon, leeroy jenkins, a gold si:7 agent and a twisting nether, i took a screenshot, my mates all hate me now though because of my insane pack luck haha

So, I started playing this last night. Already I'm in fear of it being a heavy pay to play game... Is it really the case? Will I have to grind for HOURS to get cards? Or just pay £6 for a few packs?

^^ Of course it's pay to play... like every trading card game ever

But you can get by without spending any real money, just unlock all the basic cards for each class and then start completing daily quests and spend the gold on entry into the Arena whenever you have the chance, to hopefully win some gold back plus a guaranteed pack every time...

You'll always run into some little twerp who bought 100 packs at once and has all the best cards, but equally a lot of the best value cards in the game aren't particularly difficult to acquire (like the yeti, shattered sun cleric, etc.) so as long as you can just laugh it off when you get crushed by a pay2win player and move on there's no reason you can't go far without spending yourself :) (just my opinon)

Once you've started to build up a bit of spare dust from duplicate cards you're bound to get you can start filling out the gaps in your decks with more cheap basic cards that are considered good (e.g. unleash the hounds, scavenging hyena for hunter are 40 dust a piece)

Are some classes really heavily dependent on rare cards? I ask because sometimes it feels like I get towards the end of a match, and I've got nothing in hand, wheras my opponent will occasionally throw out some enormous game changer when I think I've got a clear victory.

No class is reliant on any card. Maybe they are keeping their big plays in hand waiting for the right moment to use them instead of just playing it. For example, saving Big Game Hunter for when you drop a War Golem etc.

A note for new players like me- some decks (I am led to believe Druid is one of them) rely on their 'basic unlockables' to be any good - this means playing them to level 10 against AI is a very good idea before trying them against real players or you'll just get pounded.

It also means you need to create a custom deck to include those cards (I don't think they get included by default in the automatic deck).

Question: When entering an arena draft, are the cards you are offered linked to your collection, or is it a complete level playing field? Bascially, can I just do arena games without a serious disadvantage until I have the prizes to build/craft a constructed deck?

If you find you're low on cards and top-decking while your opponent still has several cards then perhaps you don't have enough card-draw mechanisms in your deck...

How to fix that depends on what class you're playing as - some have specific card draw minions (like the northshire cleric for priest, starving buzzard for hunter etc.)... or failing that perhaps you can switch out a few minions for cards that draw you cards like the gnomish inventor, or a cultmaster/acolyte of pain

I played a warlock game this morning where I thought I'd won, sticking 2x power overwhelmings onto my shieldmasta, the only minion on the board at the time, but I'd mis-counted by 1 and my opponent was left on 1 health (and my shieldmasta died at the end of my turn due to power overwhelming)... Even though I was still on 25 health myself I ended up losing because I had no cards left in my hand and he had several, put up a taunt wall on the next turn and I just didn't draw anything that helped me get through it :( Happens like that sometimes - if I'd realised my play wasn't going to finish him off I probably wouldn't have suicided the shieldmasta!!

Update: to the above poster - the arena draws aren't related to your own collection in anyway - totally level playing field :)
