***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Just got this setup, and seeing as Wicksta failed earlier I'm afraid I have to announce that the Google Books app doesn't go to a two-page view in landscape :(

Still, glad to have android on it even if it is just Gingerbread, roll on ICS :p

Is this install rooted? If so can anyone recommend a free battery indicator with percentage/numbers on it?

I really miss the easy multitasking of web os while running android, i hope ICS will address this.
But they have done a excellent job, I must donate to them!

:) I really am, installed gapps and my apps installed on my galaxy s2 started downloading automatically. everything seems to work so far (even though gapps still says they arent installed:p). The stock browser is a lot better already.even quadrant runs although i get a FC at the end lol. and a decent bbc news app!

awesome, even more remarkable given it's still in alpha.

How did the apps install automatically? When I configured my google account on it I got some message appear saying you could load settings and apps from a google backup but I couldn't see anything specific to press so I just pressed OK. Is there something I need to have done from the S2 to do this?

Also I can't get the lockscreen to show up. I turn the screen off from the power button and wait a few minutes and pressing it on again just takes me back to where I left off.

Also I had to download the gmail app from market, is that normal? I just assumed the google apps were in this GAPPS package. Plus on http://market.android.com I only have one device listed still. I suspect I am doing something wrong and should start from scratch, but I don't want to mess anything up.

It's rooted, there is a battery indicator built in (Settings -> CM Settings -> Interface -> Status Bar Tweaks) but not sure of any others...

Also with the lock screen I also don't get one, I guess it's just not included, I'm not missing it :p

EDIT: CM Settings -> Tablet Tweaks -> Disable lockscreen is checked, hence no lock screen :p

Also yes, it's 'normal' ish to install Gmail app, I believe the gapps pack is specifically lightweight and only includes the market and other gapps that aren't on the market, so you only get the bare minimum...

OK, now I have the battery percentage, but suddenly I am seeing a signal strength icon (before it wasn't there). Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!! Can I get rid of it, obviously I will never have a mobile signal on here!

Edit: reboot has made the network icon disappear. I keep forgetting this is an Alpha version!

My touchpad is 100% more useful now. Only problem i have really noticed is slightly flakey wifi sometimes. Overclocked mine a little too see if it makes it a little smoother.

Whats the easiest way to put the TB back to standard (after installing Android)?

You are one of only a few people on the planet that installed a very early version of CM7 in August when only a few developers had access/the knowledge to do it and you're asking us? We should be asking you the questions with that kind of expertise!

On another note, I wonder if it's worth having a separate thread for Android on the Touchpad - it must be annoying for those who are happy with WebOS to have so many Android posts?

+1
I have loads of questions :)

Also the thread would be a good place to list working/non-working apps, if someone is willing to keep an OP up to date?
