***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

When is the 3.0.4 update expected to be released for device update?

No date given but the rc update can be downloaded from some chinese website. Many users have reported much faster web browsing and flash performance.

there is also the camera app included.

the comment on this forum was that it was coming in the next few days. We will see.

I've ripped out all my common apps using titanium backup on the desire, installed titanium backup on the TP and moved the folder across, currently restoring all apps, including facebook :)

When mine loads in to CM7 now it's started boot looping :(

Edit/ Please delete just for the other thread!

Well, i still use WebOS, and have been using it daily since i got the device :)

No need to go over to Android. Those who are going over, why are you doing it?

For me at the moment it's because of the amount of apps and they'll sync between my phone and the touchpad.

I really do miss Pulse news reader

because the media streaming capabilities in webos are stuck in the dark ages?

You can either use upnp/dlna but only for file formats that were dead and buried with the Dodo,

Or use Kalemsoft as a paid app with a streamer that isn't the best by any stretch (but does do the job)

On Android, BubblePNP + MX Player = almost all videos working (currently in software decoding) job done :)

Saying that it will be a whole lot better once we get ICS :p

The apps are far better, the stock web browser is a big step up (pages and font rendered correctly and clearly, no weird site bugs, I could go on).
It now syncs in harmony with my sgs2 and finally I can now stream all my content from my sever without a problem and without using really weird server apps. That's with an alpha build, so very impressive.

I do agree, and it is a space hog as well.

I am more looking forward to the webOS 3.0.4 OTA than the Gingerbread port IMO.

There are new apps every day as well with some heavy weights coming soon, so I am happy to wait :)

Why is the TP so slow over USB? Or is it just mine? Says it will take 4-7 minutes to copy a 1.45GB file (actual will probably be around 3+ minutes).

the range of apps and games on android is vastly superior.that's enough alone, imo, but Im already surprised at how much better and faster the stock browser is.

Android is nearly 7GB. WebOS is 2GB.

The browser will be fixed, it has in fact for the leaked 3.0.3. A lot of apps are appearing every day and the homebrew comunity is pushing patches all the time.

No it isnt. I've used 7gb of storage on my 32gb TP and that's with both installed with apps and media on both.

it's going to take a long time before webos catches up with android on that front, that's why so many of us have been waiting for android :)
