***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Can anyone reccomend a better calandar app?

Things I dont like about the stock app:

A- It defaults to day view -> would prefer week. You can't even see the whole day in the day view so it is easy to miss things.

B- you don't seem to be able to invite people to appointments/ events. This is a real killer and makes the touchpad fairly useless as a personal organiser.

there are more calender options with preware

Got my first cracks appearing by one of the speakers, funny thing is I have hardly used it recently, been about 2 months.... Also have the original case on it and a netbook carry bag that it is always in.....

Anyway going on holiday next week with it so will contact HP about it.....

I take it they will just replace it with the same poorly designed case?

They will just put a new back on that will crack aagain, i just put some superglue on the crack to hold it together and stop it getting any worse and just going to live with it.

Done and working fine.

My update basically semi-bricked the Touchpad, with a Yellow Exclamation Mark Triangle message being displayed!

Had to use WebOS Doctor to perform a recovery, but lost all my PreWare patches etc.

Didn't lose any files on the device though....

Same here. I need to reinstall pre ware and the cool tweaks again because in stock form, the tablet is not so nice

Same here! One of the thin bits above the speaker looks to be cracked right through. Like you, I've used my Pad very little, compared to my wife, who uses hers regularly. Yet hers is fine! (Both are in HP cases.)

One thing different is that mine lives in "my room", which is generally significantly cooler than the rest of the house. I doubt it's a temperature thing, but who knows. You can kinda see how the speaker holes are cut out, so I suspect some are done more carefully/smoothly than others.

I think I'll do this. Can't be bothered sending it back to HP just for the same thing to happen again in a few months' time.

I was looking into selling it since my brother just purchased an android tablet for me from USA, no point in having two and tv out with a microsd slot is pretty handy....

I would not personally purchase one..... Carphonewarehouse have the Xoom 1 which just got official ICS update for £250...... Others will come down in price as at CES they had quite a few tablets being shown for this year.....

nearly all the apps are small, so 16gb is ok. and its certainly worth putting in your shortlist :). any cheap android tab that isnt subsidised at 100-150 mark is highly likely to be rubbish

I would certainly recommend one for £150, it beat the hell out of my Transformer for playing video, and the keyboard works well (both on Android). ICS is now available with a couple of bugs but they will be fixed in no time.

There is now an ACME Uninstaller (which is subject to the same disclaimers as the alpha 1 installer. Try using at your own risk.) ACME Uninstaller is used almost exactly as the ACMEInstaller was, only unlike the installation process, it is not necessary to copy any files to the TouchPad. To use, simply download and unzip the Uninstaller. Then connect the TouchPad to your computer via USB. Then restart the TouchPad with the volume-up key held until you see the large, white USB logo. Then, issue this command on your Terminal/Command Line on your computer:

$ novacom boot mem:// < ACMEUninstaller
