***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Ths missus touchpad is now failing to charge.
Sometimes works if the cable is at a jaunty angle, already tried diff cables.

What are HP doing with these on the warranty front?
Sending out refurbs, replacing with new or repairing?

It's been charged using the official charger/cable since release, had so many orderes for touchstones from HP not been cancelled then this may not have happened :(

One thing different is that mine lives in "my room", which is generally significantly cooler than the rest of the house. I doubt it's a temperature thing, but who knows. You can kinda see how the speaker holes are cut out, so I suspect some are done more carefully/smoothly than others.

I think I'll do this. Can't be bothered sending it back to HP just for the same thing to happen again in a few months' time.

I sent mine to HP (well they collected it free of charge) and it was back within a week or so with a redesigned more angular plastic case. No cracks since.

Is it really worth screwing your warranty up for a week or so without it?

Had to use WebOS Doctor to perform a recovery, but lost all my PreWare patches etc.

Didn't lose any files on the device though....

I had to uninstall Uberkernel, and then perform the WebOS upgrade. This made it boot up into a blank screen if ICS was selected from the boot menu. I then had to reinstall ICS from the /download directory with ClockworkMod, and mine now works fine. All the apps are still there etc.

I'm guessing this is how the cracks start out and they will get worse?

Installed CM9 on my 32gb Touchpad and it's amazing. Basically everything works apart from HW accelerated video which will be fixed soon.

Bargin of a tablet for £100 32gb version

I think it's probably a bit misleading to say that isn't it unless there has been an announcement (which would be very unusual as they don't do ETAs)?

Unless you have heard something official that I haven't then it may be that it's never fixed at all.
