***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

My first impressions...

I like it. I installed all the tweaks and put the CPu at 1.5ghz. Was very easy and didn't take long at all.

I have an iPad also, which is my benchmark. My iPad's main use was web, email and Sonos app. I actually like the WebOS interface, I like how the notifications work and the interface is slick. Compared to the iPad, I like the feel of the HP more.

Disadvantages? Apps of course, but then as a device for browsing web / email, it's great. Wouldnt have paid full price, but at the price we paid, absolute bargain.

Ah yes, trying to make the webOS better with Preware. :p:D

Every single Android device I've had has required me to flash a custom rom on it to bring it up to my standards - that's just how tech works, WebOS is no different, except I don't have to go through the risk and pain of flashing.

I have an Asus Transformer and a few touchpads. The touchpads get used the most in my house hold - by the kids, by the wife even by visitors (I just leave them lying around for everyone to use). People pick up the transformer and put it down after 10 mins and switch to the touchpad usually - I've never seen anyone swap the touchpad for the transformer.

What's more I get people asking me how to use the transformer - the touchpad never generates such enquries. That for me illustrates how intuitive and freindly WebOS is over HC.

sorry to ask a stupid question, but what is the best way of setting up your email accounts?

I have a gmail account, a yahoo account and a hotmail account. I think on my iphone gmail, and hotmail are set up as exchange accounts and yahoo is something else (pop3?). Do I need to set them up the same as on my phone?

anyone?

Well, when you type anything in the address bar, in the browser, it gives the option to search with Google, right? I guess that'll add Wikipedia to that, so you could type in "touchpad", then click search in Google, or search in Wikipedia?

Thanks, I have added it now, I actually quite like it as a system. I had been worried it was trying to replace google or something. Bit scarred by past experiences with the ask toolbar!

If I'm using a Touchpad, but want to use my account on another and give the original touchpad to my brother, how do I do it? Do I need to wipe the Touchpad, somehow, or do I just go to accounts and make him one?

Webos doctor will reboot it to factory then you can put in your account name and it'll synch or start with a new account

been using my touchpad for 24 hours now and love it, I wasn't sure if I'd use it but now I can't put it down. The webos is brilliant too, it looks great and is smooth. I used my htc desire and can now see how ugly and clunky android is, I still love my desire though.

We need a seperate "Touchpad Apps" thread or something, but....

Sat Nav - this thing as GPS built in, which is nice, BUT, how can I use it as Sat Nav WITHOUT Internet access? In other words, I want the maps on the device itself.

TomTom or equiv WebOS version exist yet?
The ones in the HP Store thing appear to all require Internet access.
