*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Sounds good, so for 399 I get an unlocke unbranded phone and an orange sim I can bin and put my vodafone contract sim instead?

Sounds like a lunchtime trip to cow for moe tomorrow!

Aren't you better off getting it on a £10 month contract as it's only £4 more and you get unlimited internet

That is a really good deal but depends on the T-Mobile coverage in your area. I wish I knew how soon the merger with Orange would affect things. Orange coverage is fine where I live and work but T-Mobile is not.

Anybody have any info on this merger business and how soon coverage will be affected?

I'll have to have a look at the 3 cpw near me to see if they have it yet, is it £399 including the £10 top up or before the top up(so £409.99)?

I was originally looking at ordering it from mobile phones direct, they have it on vodafone payg for ~£383(will it be unlocked and unbranded like from cpw?) but reading the after sales service horror stories I'm not too sure.

have a mpd store 'near' me but it's 6 miles or so away, with cpw have 3 stores in 3 miles or so radius so can 'just pop in' if I have any problems with the phone

I had a look, says limited stock for 2 stores and in stock for 1. going to try ordering to collect instore, not certain when I'll get it as the closest store(don't have to go into town so not too far out of the way to stop on way from work) is limited stock so may not have it when I go to collect.

aghh balls! Dunno whether to get the desire or 3GS, both are £400 sim free. What would have the better resell value if i wanted to go for the new iphone if/when that comes out end of this year?

I've been playing about with the phone all night and I love it. The rendering on websites is superb and the auto correct function when writing messages is awesome aswell. It really allows you to type at speed.

The only thing I'm having an issue with is contacts. Retrieving them from Facebook and then trying to assign them to groups seems to be an issue.

Overall though I think I'm going to be happy with this for a long time to come ;)

The online store says no stock. But, the website does show limited stock at another store near me :)

It also says "In store price & top-up requirement may vary" whatever that might turn out to mean.

Yeh i think that means if u buy instore. If u buy online and collect instore, u still pay online with card. So your still covered by distant selling act.

I don't think you are actually reserving stock that is in the store. Reading the help pages on the website it looks to me like you are ordering the item from the online store to be delivered to your local store.

"If you can't wait at home for a delivery, you can always pick it up from the Carphone Warehouse store of your choice within a few days. Just buy online or over the phone, and choose to collect your order from store."

within a few days could apply to the timeframe you have to pick it up, much like the 48hour pickup timeframe you have of another place.

"Please choose a store to collect from the next day with our store locator."

Possibly having to wait a day?

Anyway, i've decided I couldn't hold out and I am willing to pay the extra £10 to lift it tomorrow if I can. If not, wednesday.

Still pretty miffed at missing the £40 off the O2 deals. I always seem to do that with deals, not read them properly, hesitate, miss the deadline and curse myself.

I don't see why people think that tha payg iphone are simfree(i.e. unlocked and unbranded), they're locked to o2 or orange(not sure if voda do payg yet). yes with the o2 one you can easily get it unlocked without having to mess around with jail breaking and what not, but it costs £15 on top of the £450/£550(16/32gb). the true simfree ones I've seen are £700+(16gb) and £900+(32gb), well unless you go over to one of the european countries where they sell them simfree but then you have to take the cost of the trip into account.

sinopa if it is the case of it being ordered from the main warehouse then ordering online and collecting instore will take awhile as they currently don't have stock acording to the website, so would be better to just take the risk and pop into the store nearest me tomorrow and hope they have 1 available.

if I do get this, how easy will it be to transfer my contacts from my touch hd? I have my contacts and calander(don't have much in it bar a few old appointments, so not too important tranfering to the desire) synced to my pc using activesync from the touch hd.

also anyone suggest a good mediaplayer for playing audiobooks(mp3 format), I've got back into listening to audiobooks at work during my lunch hour. have s2p(looks like the iphone/ipod touch player, coverflow and what not. tho in the current version coverflow has been disabled due to some issues) on my touch hd.

I thought i'd chosen the HD2 when i phoned T-mobile on friday so i was a bit angry when i got home from work just now and i've received the Desire instead. I wasn't sure if i'd made a mistake when i ordered the HD2 as i've heard the android phones are great.

Do you think i should keep it?

I've had a quick play and coming from a Nokia 5800, i'm blown away by it so far.
