*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

My brother bought a used desire last week and put his sim in it but he can't get any data.

He called Orange and they sent him the settings, he tried some off a website too but neither work.

The phone was originally T-mobile but was unlocked.

Is there a chance rooting it will fix it? Can he root then run the standard rom still and have the updates all work as standard?

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks guys

Gah, having issues with my Desire. In a call the screen blanks out (which it should do) but then I can't get it back on - no buttons wake it up. This is pain as when I ring someone I can't end the call after the screen goes off so have to wait until the phone terminates itself after the answer phone. Also impossible to use when you are expected to use the numpad while in a call. Might have to fire an e-mail off to HTC. :(

Am waiting for the official 2.2 to come out before I start changing roms, will stick to the official Vodafone 2.1 for the moment.

Just wondering but wouldn't it be great if these ROM makers could get Over The Air working to update their ROMs?

Had a play with one of these in a shop today, the OS is a lot nicer and polished than I expected (though i'm used to Symbian), but the feel of the phone was cheap compared to my E71. Lots of plastic..

On the upside, it was thinner than I expected too, and the screen was pretty good. I regret not trying to type on it, I'm very used to buttons atm.

Really? I thought the E71 felt worse - the Desire is rubberised and aluminium (bezel, buttons) anyway, there's no plastic to feel!

Na, OTA updates are fare from common and by the time they happen ROM developers have had those updates on their roms weeks/months beforehand anyway along with tweaks.

I went from the Omnia (which was a nightmare to text on) to this, and the difference is night and day. It has a really good feel to it when texting, with the tacticle feedback its nearly (not quite) as good as hard buttons.

Some unrEVOked help please !

It has rebooted and is sitting idle at the home screen, The software still says 'Flashing recovery image - Do not touch your phone'

Surely the flashing has been done ?

How long should it take ?

I'm keeping it plugged in for a bit just incase or do i need to manually reboot ?
