*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Hi guys,

Normally at work I've got 2/3 bars of signal, all of a sudden today I've got absolutely nothing. Normally when I switch the phone on it'll connect to Orange pretty sharpish, but today...nada, just sits there saying emergency calls only.

Has anyone else experienced this, frustrating because damned if theres a way for me to tell easily whether it's the phone or the network, and I dont really want to factory reset my phone to try and found out!

Flashed or stock?

My only issues since installing 2.2 are reception has deteriorated in my house.

At my PC i now have 'Emergency Calls Only' 75% of the time, Before, I always had a signal.

Could it be the latest radio ?

Does anybody know when these are coming back into stock on Orange?

I've been told Sunday, but I'm skeptical...

Ive been phoning them all this week.

Called on Monday they said Tuesday.

Called on Tuesday they said next week on Monday.

Called on Wednesday they said Thursday.

Called on Thursday they said Friday.

Called on Friday and then they said today at 2pm. Called at 3pm and they said that they haven't received anything so call on Monday.

blah

Since buying my desire, getting a 16gig card and installing Doubletwist player I've not used my iPod once(which will likely wing its way onto ebay) - sound quality wise its as good as an ipod but not as good as my old Creative Zen.

never seen a reason to buy a screen protector since i have a leather pouch

500mb has always been enough for me though I dont use it for video streaming - just email / browsing / app downloading

Just what I wanted to hear tbh :), seems like I'll also probably get rid of my nano when I get around to getting a desire. I'll probably get a pouch.

Orange have probably the worst stock control over the phone I have ever experienced.

If you call 5 times in a row, chances are you'll get a different response every time.

Ask to speak to a manger and they will actually know and not make rubbish up :p

Stock, I haven't modified the software on my desire at all, bar installing a few apps.

Dont suppose any one is in the MK area on Orange and can say whether its just my phone or there is indeed something going on coverage wise today?

Reason i asked was after I flashed my phone the other day my service went to pot, i usually get 5 bars at home it was around 1-2 max so it could just be a network thing

Hmm tempted to root this weekend.

Changing ROM, what will it change? Will it acctually be any better? I would like battery life to improve, but will it?

You won't notice the difference in apps2sd or cache2sd performance I can tell you that right now. Class numbers have very little to do with real world performance.

My 8GB Class 2 Sandisk mobile Ultra compared to the Class 6 LG for example performs the same (and in some cases better) than the LG when connected to a card reader but over USB and in the phone they're both exactly the same.

Most custom ROM kernels at present don't make use of any extra USB speed either.

Unless you're taking the card out of the phone and into a card reader to xfer every time then you won't see a big difference at all I'd say.

can anyone recommend a dock/cradle? there are a few different type on ebay etc..

i'm looking for one that is mains powered and can sync with my pc. no need for a 2nd battery slot.

i agree, read speeds are all that really matters with apps2sd and so im sticking with my 16gb class 2 for £22, when are you even going to get near loading that amount of MB/s? i cant see the need.
