*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Did you have any APPS running in the background?

I used to use eBuddy for my MSN, and i found it totally rapes my battery

Could well have been that, I might switch wifi off at night and see if that prevents any automatic syncing etc and see if that preserves my battery as it should be using next to nothing at night

hmmmz, Generic Network Failure.

Thanks for trying that. I've looked into this a bit, and it seems that rather than sending the MMS down the correct APN of wap.o2.co.uk it's sending it down mobile.o2.co.uk hence the failure. It does this even if you set the APN Type to 'mms' for the wap.o2.co.uk one. I'll try a different ROM later and if that fixes it I'll report the problem to leedroid. He posted that he just had a baby a day or two ago though so probably won't have much time to fix. ;)

Anyway I'll do some testing and post back later.

Would anyone with a stock Desire on O2 mind typing out their APN details?

OK I've sorted the MMS on leedroid, the APN setup on the Desire seems a bit flakey and inconsistent but it finally works.

Delete all existing APNs, then add two new ones in this order:

Name: O2 UK Postpay MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
Port:9201
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMSproxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN Type: mms

then this one:

Name: O2 Mobile Web
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: o2web
password: password
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN Type: internet

(all other fields left blank)

The most important thing is the APN type or you end up with MMS going down the wrong APN.

OK first full day of LeeDroid, I have Activesync to push new emails on arrival. the phone has been off the charger for 4.5 hours, about 30 minutes of MP3 playback, wifi and 3G on....still at 91%!!! I've never had it higher than 55-60% at lunch time on stock, and on DeFrost it'd be on about 40% by now.

Remarkable improvement!

Tom.

OpenDesire ROM today battery report.

Made countless calls since 8am this morning but had wifi off the whole time (HSDPA/3G only). Battery right now is at 70%.

Remarkable improvement I'd say over other stock ROMs.

Just a quick question... My Daughter's Desire seems to be buggering about with adding new Contacts. Her contacts were imported from her GMail account, and today she's tried to add a new (type: Google) contact, and it just disappears, and when we add one in on Gmail and she does a sync on her phone, that vanishes too!

Where are we going wrong?

Thanks!

Yep, mine is infinately better since I worked out what was draining it. Off charge at 6am its now at 70% with quite a few calls texts and 3G / H on

is the contact showing in the People app and not in the list in the Phone/Dialler?

I had this where all my contacts were in People application, but the newer ones since initial sync either added from the phone or google contacts didnt show when accessed via the Phone dialler list (press Phone button on home screen and scroll down).

Contacted HTC who suggested going into Manage Applications, Contacts Storage, and force stop IIRC? and then clear storage, which will clear all contacts.

Before re synchronising contacts, I had to add any that were missing back to google contacts and then resync. I still have the issue where some new contacts, added after the initial sync, don't show in the phone dialler list but appear OK in the People app.

OK how will this 2.2 update take place? mine is a branded unlocked Tmobile phone using a vodafone SIM, who will i be waiting on? how is it rolled out?

Khaaan, what rom do you stick with as default now?

Im still using Sparta and really dont want to change unless its a real benefit :D

Cheers

Vodafone are rubbish.

Ordered my Desire on Monday morning and still haven't heard a peep from them today. Rang up this morning to find out what is happening, guy said the order has been accepted but not actually ordered...useful, so asked if he could find out when it would arrive. He said he would call back...4hrs later still not call, so rang again and spoke to someone else who also said the same thing and they'll call me back. I hope they can sort it soon.

They are missing from everything, people and phone dialler. I've just had another Google, and someone's Desire had set the account on the phone as @googlemail, whereby the actual address was @gmail. This rings a bell (pun) as when I set up the gmail account initially, it was @googlemail, but we then changed to @gmail because it's a neater address. I was very new to this at the time, so I think the phone is still set as @googlemail. I'll have a look when I get home...

The Galaxy is getting Froyo by the end of September according to their Facebook:

Afternoon everyone!

We have seen quite a few questions about the Froyo update. The latest news is that this is currently in development and will be released for all networks at the end of September.

Which would suggest HTC would be earlier given previous updates? And therefore, the HTC update must be very soon. :D
