*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I'm beginning to have a slight hatred to people in the US.... :)

Froyo for UK Desire's are surely imminent then, well some type of logic would say so*

*Wishful thinking.

anyone had an over the air update, or is it all lies i read on the web

I was thinking all those rumors were leading to a Friday release? Which tbh, is looking unlikely since there hasn't even been an official announcement from HTC ....

I'm pretty sure that you may well be seeing 2.2 on the Desire etc before the end of the next week.

HTC are actually delivering something in a fairly ok-ish time frame!

Well it better be, I mean even Samsung are updating their Galaxy with 2.2 by the end of September (according to their official Twitter) and that phone was released after the Desire, so in theory we should be updated weeks before it!

Then again, HTC haven't even confirmed a firm date, so who knows...

HUZZAH!

Official: HTC rolling out Android 2.2, 720p video, iTunes sync to unlocked Euro Desires this weekend

We've just heard directly from HTC regarding that hotly anticipated upgrade to Android 2.2: it's happening this weekend for lucky Euroland owners of the Desire. Provided your Sense-laden 3.7-incher is not carrier-locked, you should be receiving your serving of Froyo by the end of the week, together with a new 720p video mode and iTunes sync for your music. HTC is also throwing in its App Share widget that it first introduced with the Wildfire, along with its smart Caller ID feature. Very nice, though it's quite a shame that operator-specific versions of the update are still stuck in testing and are expected "in several weeks' time." Ah well, guess that'll teach us to buy our gear unlocked.

**REALLY STUPID QUESTION HERE**

I purchased my phone from Virgin, but I was able to put my O2 sim card in and use it perfectly, now does that mean it is unlocked and I will not have to wait for the operator specific ones?

I'd also like to know this. I got my phone from T-Mobile but I don't think there's any branding and I seem to remember people saying Tmob were supplying unlocked sets at the time? Can't really test it right now with another sim.

What happens with regards to official updates if you have rooted phone with custom roms/radios etc...

This, I waited ages for a 2.2 update then finally got bored one day here at work.....typical :P

How do you know if yours is unlocked? Mine is Vodafone but I'm running a stock HTC Rom

Just been on the Vodafone eforum and found this post from someone on there:

To clarify, FW version x.xx.161.x are Vodafone, x.xx.405.x are generic unbranded phones (although people on Virgin seem to get the x.xx.405.x with a Virgin splash screen - don't know why as the Virgin product code is x.xx.351.x)
