*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

A good few things :) lots have been said about it in this thread. A few things for you tho.

Faster ROM
Quicker Updates
Custom mods
Overclocking

If you go over to the XDA forums and click on a ROM topic then they will have a list of all the stuff the ROM does :)

okay.. have had a look and there's LOADS of choice there and being honest i'm a bit overwhelmed. I was after something which has sense, android 2.2, the most features (ie 720i vid and flash etc..) and works; i take it at the moment there's no given "best" rom?

Not really, there is a few you carnt go wrong with really.

Id say

Nextsense
Leedroid
Opendesire
defrost

You will be happy with any of them, all 2.2, all are packed with features.

If you like the sense UI/widgets/etc. then don't go for defrost or opendesire, these two are stock android with added stuff (The same as the other roms withought sense)

Read his replys? It's not been released to the UK yet even tho you can download it from the market
Does seem a tad more reliable, although it seems to favour correcting things to american places. lol.

Wonder how reliable it would be in the car. As that'd be ideal for usage in the car tbh.

Need some help, when I use my Desire as a GPS or similar it goes into standby mode after a minute (as per the settings), is there an app that can keep the phone awake when certain apps are in use?

I can change it so it doesn't sleep for 30 mins but that's the max.

I've noticed a lot of you guys are using (or getting through) most of the ROMs I've been using from XDAs. I find myself trying more and more ROMs to find something is missing from everyone! I find so many widgets that would be fantastic to stick on my homescreen but they have rubbish graphics and just don't fit in.

So I've caved in and have got the basics down to make my own ROM with the mish mash of themes, changes and customisation I like to see on my phone. Is there anyone else here who has followed this path too? Or dabbled in customising to this level?

well.. have done the upgrade. it doesn't seem really very different to me at all, except having moved my programs "to sd" a few of them don't work and 1/3rd of the shortcuts on the home screens are now basically useless. not happy really :/
