*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

man, there's so much here i need a little pointer....

I've just rooted my Vodafone Desire (.80 bootloader) to, as i understand it, install a "unbranded" 2.1 rom and then allow it to upgrade "over air" to 2.2. Is this the best way to go about it as there seems to be loads of stuff about different roms and things now?

Now your rooted you might aswell just wack on a custom 2.2 ROM :)

Or i think there is a "untouched" 2.2 on xda.

Im getting tempted to sell my desire and get a streak, i really want that big screen :( But im going to wait till after HTC's event to see what goddies they have :)

I'm now running PinkyDesire 1.2, lol all this ROM hopping :p

Think I will stick with this for a while though.

I managed to install Nextsense, As i was getting the PASSION error and couldnt get passed it.

When I boot into recovery I could only "see" UPDATE.ZIP, so i used that thinking this wont work, It then took me to another menu when I could choose "NextSense", I simply choose it, it installed perfectly, then choose updated radio, which worked aswell.

Maybe I can remove "update.zip" from root of sdcard.....i dunno, at least I can replace roms without getting stuck.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Like you've never said that before..... I sure hope you treat woman better than you treat roms! :D

¬_¬

I am back on NextSense now after finding Pinky 1.2 to be sluggish here and there compared to eeDroid and NextSense!

Thats ClockworkMOD's recovery file. Leave it there and it means you can access recovery easier and have more options. Better yet, install UnRevoked and it puts a permanent recovery menu on your phone without the need for an update.zip file (and gives you even more options)

Downloading NextSense 5.2 now. He has added a few tweaks and a couple of extras including "stockified brutus maps". Normally I dont like ROM's with extras added on (I like adding what I want, not what someone else likes) but as this is the brutus mod for Google BUT has been totally made back to Google stock (so it looks and acts the same but with the cache ability) then I will give it a shot.

A good few things :) lots have been said about it in this thread. A few things for you tho.

Faster ROM
Quicker Updates
Custom mods
Overclocking

If you go over to the XDA forums and click on a ROM topic then they will have a list of all the stuff the ROM does :)

Hi guys...so after installing the update to 2.2, I'm now getting an error message every few seconds: "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" I then have to press "force close" to get rid of the popup.

Any ideas? Is there anyway to get back to 2.1?

Try uninstalling it and reinstall.
