*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I am sure someone can help me in this thread, I have a bit of an issue where by my Desire switches itself off it it gets used for more than a few minutes at a time and then gets stuck in an infinte reset loop, the only way to get past this is take out the battery for about 5 minutes and pray it works next time.

I was told this is a know fault and maybe have something to do with the actual main PCB in the phone T-Mobile have agreed to swap out the phone for me but I do not know how to back up the entire contents of the phone which is really all I want to do before I return it.

Can anyone enlighten me on how this is doable?

Thanks.

( which i found by googling 'debrand htc desire' )

gold card tool: http://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/

guide: http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/67098-how-flash-debrand-your-desire.html

ignore the part about making a gold card and go to the modaco gold card tool link instead. its much, much simpler.

i actually used a different generic rom from xda developers, but i doubt it matters all that much. just different radio versions, whatever that means. mine works fine but your mileage may vary.

worked for me, and im a tool

Thanks for your help :)

So, what ROM's are people battering around now? Tempted to go back to NextSense unless there is something better floating around?

I'm staying on DeFrost now, it's just too featurepacked now since it's packing Cyanogen mod internals.

DeFrost setup to download and install mods (kernels, adblock etc) is also very nice and it updates with new stuff when Mr trip uploads them.

Also getting good battery life, unplugged early this morning probably around 6:45 and at present 56% battery after making a 36 minute phone call at lunch.

I'm using the 998MHz 1250mv undervolt kernel btw and have setcpu enabeld to only drop the cpu to 245/245MHz (performance scaling) when screen is off.

Are there any problems with debranding a device and getting proper Android updates?

I'm probably getting a Desire on Orange in November, and I'd like to run HelixLauncher on it rather then Sense/any Orange crap.

You don';t need to debrand or root to run Helix Launcher, just install it off the market although I'd question your choice and poke your eyes and point you in the direction of LauncherPro Plus which includes Sense like widgets as well as many other features and better speed compared to any other launcher.

Have been trying DeFrost all day, really liking it so far.
Getting quite a few application errors at startup ie Titanium Backup and Rom manager, also when trying to configue DeFrost its self.
Any ideas guys?

you need to flash the original framework-res.apk from the OD3.5.0.zip to get the original bar back.

i'll make a flashable update this morning if it's quiet at work ;)

the battery on the new radio/OD combo is great i'm currently at 95% after nearly 2 hours of mp3 player and surfing. normally it would be anywhere from 90-75%.

Thanks, will keep checking back for flashable update :-)

Did you do a wipe of cache, dalvik cahe, factory reset before flashing the ROM?

Does anyone know of, or have used any good sellers on eBay for a Desire battery? I'm not looking for extra battery power, just a normal battery to use as a spare when I'm away.
