I flashed it last night, went from 0-1 bars to 4 bars everywhere in the house, can't help wondering if Vodafone somehow got hold of the knackered iOS4 code to misreport signal strength.

Is this HTCs update? If so, from their keyboard you press and hold a lette to get the characters like exclamation marks or question marks. Or you can scroll through the pages. You can download the keyboard mod if you are rooted.

Does it not work the same way as the IME mod k/b? Press the number key and the exclamation mark is on the left?

People need to use HTC_IME Mod keyboard (v27).

It is far better than HTC's stock keyboard and has way more features. And yeah like others have said, just hold a key for the symbols, like 'a' for '!'

im not sure on that but if your on orange im guessing it would simlock your phone unless its already unlocked

Im using the stock one in Nextsense 6, or at least i think its the stock one and it looks almost identical to that except for the smiley and microphone buttons at the bottom

Latest radio doesn't simlock Orange phones, it does need root though.

Guys do 02 brand their phones? Im looking at 2nd hand Desire but he says there is an 02 splash screen on startup (can this be removed?)

Yeah, some previous radio's did lock the phone, the first one HTC released after 2.2 hit the Desire did but there's been a couple since that haven't (including this latest Voda one).

By rooting, yes.

Splash screens aren't really that intrusive though...

yeah i got a 2nd hand tmobile one it was unlocked, but i created a gold card and chucked a stock rom on, which then allowed me to get the 2.2 upgrade and removed the branding.

By rooting, yes.

i can fully recommend this from ebay, fits like a glove and is fairly padded, plus looks quite sweet, few quid from china

ignore the part about making a gold card and go to the modaco gold card tool link instead. its much, much simpler.

i actually used a different generic rom from xda developers, but i doubt it matters all that much. just different radio versions, whatever that means. mine works fine but your mileage may vary.
