*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Hey everyone,

Today I shall be using a Goldcard to debrand my phone and then install [ROM] Official HTC FROYO Android 2.2 FILE for Manual Update via HTC SYNC (OTA file)

So I don't have to wait for Virgin to release theirs.

What I have is:

The phone
usb cable
a spare 4gb micro sd card
and my actual 16gb sd card

Should I back up my phone using titanium backup or will there be no need?
Because I want all my settings back on the phone.

Any other precautions I should take?

Any help?

I've just got my replacement Desire from Orange (with all the usual bundled crapware), so I need to set about installing a clean rom for starters.

I did this back in May for my original Desire, and it was a bit fiddly, but I guess the process has changed now? I can't tell if the phone has an SLCD screen (although I assume it has - can't actually tell the difference).

Ideally, I want to root, nandroid backup, and then go back to either LeeDroid or OpenDesire.

Does anyone have a nice step by step guide to doing this? I had a read of the XDA HBOOT 0.83 / 0.92 / SLCD - rooting and recovery thread but its a bit confusing.

The crux of my problem is that I am running 1.22.61.1, not 1.21.405.2. So I'm not sure if I can just root using Unrevoked and then flash LD or OD, or whether I need to downgrade to debrand first?

Has anyone gotten Maim working? It can't seem to find any roms, even though they're on the sd-card.

Let me know if you get it sorted, I found all that a bit confusing as well.

I've posted the same question in that thread, and the reply was that "All 1.x HTC ROMs can be rooted directly with unrevoked 3.14."

My next question was whether I can therefore root with Unrevoked, and then just flash a 5.x radio followed by LeeDroid or OpenDesire, without having to debrand (as essentially flashing a debranded rom is just a rom I guess). No reply yet though...

Any ideas when t-mobile get 2.2 ???

I'd love to know this as well! My friend at work who is with Vodafone has been upgraded onto 2.2 for the past 1-2 weeks.

What's with T-Mobile?! It's now the middle of September, when I was reading stuff on the net last month I seem to recall T-Mobile was near the front of the queue....? (Unless I dreamt that).

Frustrating to see other people with it.

Well I considered; But I have a Hboot 0.75 and no info on the box to tell if its amoled or not. Reports on the web say some phones with slcd have been loaded with 0.75  soo with that in mind im gonna play it safe and not bugger my phone up seeing as I have only had it for 7days.

I have an Orange branded Desire. In order to remove the branding and be able to install custom ROMs, is it literally as simple as using the Unrevoked tool? Or is there more to it? I'm slowly coming round to the idea of being bothered..

i didnt do it the unrevoked method but from what I know its a one click operation now? i did it the old fashioned long winded way. Loads of useful info over at XDA

i found it quite fun debranding, you learn a fair bit about the phone, well i did as i read so many guides, one thing i learnt.... its pretty hard to brick the desire.
