*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Recently aquired my Desire and a little bit of a noob to it and what I can do with it at the moment to be honest. Do we have a good hints & tips guide somewhere for setting up your OS? I am currently using sense but keep hearing mentions of things like Froyo, any good?

Run through the essential android apps thread, you'll get to grips with everything that way.
As for froyo, thats the name for the android os versions, i.e 2.1 2.2 = donut, eclair, froyo,
Your phone may have come with eclair 2.1, and you can upgrade to froyo 2.2 now.
Sense is HTC loader program for Android, is basically a front cover for it, and this can be changed for different loaders like launcherpro.

You can also change your Android version to a custom edited one, but thats out of my league so far.

I am on DeFrost 4.2 :p

Not going to budge from it any time soon though I don't think, it's just too good.

id say the camera trick is going to work on most phones, I've only had mine 3 months and because i didnt realise its not glass, and I'ts in my pocket all the time, mines ******.
I'l probably try the toothpaste trick, but I did think that it would be useful to a lot of people on here as they have had theirs longer.

Currently running DeFrost 3.8 - is it worth the upgrade to 4.2? As I've got it set up just right and can't be bothered doing it all over again.

There's no need to do anything all over again. Just upgrade the ROM, flash the framework res zip file if you've got a battery % meter mod (easily done via the kitchen) and flash teh adblock hosts file.

The benefits are new radio, new kernel, better performance here and there and more bug fixes.

And what of my question good man.....?

Oh I missed that, SVS, HAVS seems to always cause problems. Angry birds crashes, Apps randomly close, Launcher Pro reloads itself etc.

SVS 998MHz works perfect for me, it's also the stock kernel with DeFrost so no need to touch anything).

Hi guys.

I'd like to set a piece of music as my "alarm" in the mornings rather than the hideous and startling array of beeps and whistles that come as standard on the phone. I'd also like it to "fade in" rather than blast straight out.

What is there out there that might do the job???

Thanks

Currently using this as my alarm
