Tbh, if I could live with the dirt that is Sense UI, I'd not be rooted either.

My Nexus Ones for instance aren't rooted.

I couldn't have an Android without root though, too much reliance on stuff like ShootME, Titanium and Nandroid.

I managed to root mine? Yes it involves downgrading HBOOT, but its not exactly difficult.

Can you backup Messages with Ti Backup? When I first rooted and went to MoDaCo r5 I seemed to lose them, any easy instructions would be appreciated.

I don't know, I only use Titanium to backup apps and app data only, I use MyBackup Pro to backup and restore MMS/SMS and system wide settings.
