*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

In the brief time I've been on Leedroid, I've not noticed exceptionally bad battery life, well no more so than the normal Froyo rom, although its definately worse than Oxygen was...or seems to be.

I actually quite liked Oxygen and didnt have any issues with it, if I could have HTC's customised internet browser, and mail app, I'd have been happy with it.
Didn't have an issue with Zeam either, it was light, fast, the customisable menu bar was nice, and didnt crash on me. Only thing about it I didnt like too much was that if an app was on the SD card, it wouldnt load the icon properly unless you restarted it once the phone was up and away.

May well go back to Oxygen in the future if I find a way to get HTC's apps.

I've got my official 2.2 HTC Froyo install backed up on my SD card with Clockworkmod too, so if I ever want to, I can revert to official quite easily.

The two things I don't like with Oxygen are the inability to hide the browser zoom button, and the fact that like all other stock roms it doesn't sync contact details with Facebook (a small thing, but it's nice to have the contact photos etc syncing).

Hence the reason I chop and change between stock Froyo and LeeDroid...

It syncs Contact pics and other FB data too:

Ok, can't see a way of linking a Google contact with FB if they aren't automagically linked.

EDIT: Got it. Click Menu to edit the contact, then menu again to join them.

Quick question: Its been suggested I might need an unlock code when rooting and flashing Leedroid on my Orange locked HTC Desire. I dont mind sticking with Orange but I am told my phones IMEI is new and not on the servers so an unlock will be £20-30 rather than £6.

Do I *need* an unlock or not? I have another phone so I dont mind rooting and flashing and seeing if I *need* a code and getting it later if needed. Just would like to know really.

Does anyone know if it IS possible to get an APK/installable version of HTC's Browser, Camera and Email app? The camera not so much as I know there are improved versions of the android stock cam too.

Looking at it objectively, those are the only things I really miss when I'm not using a Sense ROM, the widgets don't bother me all that much, its just the fact that the browser, mail and camera apps ARE better than the stock ones.

I'm not that fussed what launcher I use as long as it works and works reasonably well.

T-Mobile 2.2

It's been fine (as fine as the Desire battery can be) until literally a few days ago. I've not installed anything and Wifi, GPS, BT is turned off as it always has been but the battery simply seems to give up after a few hours.

I think I'd be tempted to take it back if I were you mate.

It's been a long time since I updated my phone which has an ancient version of OpenDesire, I'd like to update to a ROM that is more stable but I'm not sure which to pick.
I looked into oxygen but its a beta? What would you guys recommend?

Also, I'd like to backup most of my stuff on the phone which would be a good app for this?

i like oxygen

best non sense rom i've used. every other has been laggy with 7 screens full of things.

battery life isn't as good as open desire though (2nd best)

ok this is going to sound silly, but apart from the widgets what does Sense do on a phone?

I'm using LauncherPro anyway, but if I got a non sense based ROM like Oxygen or something what will I lose?

Well I've give back to Leedroid now after many months of DeFrost, look the same as my SD setup but the additional Sense benefits like better off reader, browser and unlimited tabs mode and others is just a bit better for me now!

I will miss wiimote connectivity but ah well.

One huge plus in leedroid is the pinch zoom reflow fix so pinch to zoom doesn't flow text until you double tap screen when loomed in which is very handy on many sites that scroll about on zoom below causing you to lose position which is annoying.

Sense has its own contact system and browser iirc that are both quite different to stock andriod.

Edit: oh and the dialer is another sense addition

So i'm rolling with Oxygen 0.2.2 now and it just gets better and better. It doesn't really offer much over the other Roms but its clean and only 50mb
