*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Hi all!

What's everybody's thoughts on their favourite Sense ROM lately?

Do the later Sense ROMs look/do much different to stock Sense?

Ive got a 16gb class 10 and cannot remember how i set the partitions up, looking at the XDA link it appears ill probably have a 1gb EXT3

Id assume R5 just means Release 5, not just sure about that either.

hmmm well as I use amon recovery its slightly different as there is an option in the main menu to partition sd card, i set swap to 0mb, ext to 2048 (or whatever you choose) and the rest as fat32, there is then the option to upgrade it to ext3 then ext4 if you need that, i guess there is a similar option in cm too? I know my wifes blade has a version of cm on and there is a option to partition on that hidden off the main menu so maybe its the same?

Has anybody tried Tabasco Silky? I get stuck in a boot loop for some reason. I'm using AMonRA and do have an EXT3 partition, so I'm still using GingerVillain3.3

Looks nice though :)

InsertCoin 1.1.14 was my favourite rom. I've now switched to MIUI as sense roms just drain my battery to fast. I've gone from a 1 days use on a charge to about 3 days.

4ext recovery touch makes installing roms, formatting sd cards etc etc much easier on the eye :)

Theres a New sense rom also has a touch screen install option :)

Great while installing the rom not much use afterwards tho :)

Runnymede AIO V4.0.1 Special Edition I tried it battery life is terrible but the install is very nice.

It's good to see the Desire has a lot of support still around xmas there must have been 5-10 new roms released.

Been following the progress of the Desire ICS roms and they seem to be improving very quickly, i think they even have the camera working in one of the roms now.

Said goodbye to my Desire today. Last week or so people have been struggling to hear me on the other end. I tried going back to the original RUU but it didn't help.

I'm using a backup phone now so I thought I would try one of ICS ROMS, CM9 in fact. And it seems to be very stable. Camera is working and everything stock is working. I haven't tried installing any of my old apps though. The only issue I had, was market wouldn't open up to start with. I had to factory reset the phone before it would work.

Also a question to ex Desire owners if there are any in here. What phone did you go for next? I'm really enjoying Android and quite like the look of the Nexus but part of me is itching to try something different and go for a Windows phone. Anyone jumped ship and what do you think?

I'm an ex. Desire owner and moved to the Galaxy Note, I can't recommend it enough.

I took my desire out of the drawer today because i fancied having a look at ICS. Was quite disappointed if truth be told! I guess i shouldn't judge on a beta version though.

Also to the person a couple of posts back, the camera works on the latest CM9

I upgraded to the Nexus from my Desire, loving the Nexus and ICS.
I couldnt let my Desire go so its been passed on to my wife :)

I've had a desire since april 09 and switched for a refurbished omnia 7 a couple weeks back just to try out wp7 and see if it was better than android.

Weird thing is they both use the same soc and have the same screen resolution, but the omnia is a huge amount smoother.

The omnia is awesome for the basic apps, not great for games but then with such an old soc and small market share thats to be expected.

The market isnt as big but then im not a huge apps user so it hasnt affected me at all, all the main stuff is there.

My plan was to play with omnia until my contracts up in april, then sell it and the desire and get whatevers top of the range in the summer. WP7 hardware is getting on a bit so hopefully wp8 enables android spec hardware. I personally wouldnt get a contract wp7 phone now as itll probably be waaay out of date once wp8 is out.

I definitely prefer wp7 over gingerbread but am waiting for stable ics builds before making a final decision. (I prefer them both over ios.)

Anyway just my 2 cents, any more questions feel free to ask :)

I had a play with the Note and it's a fantastic piece of kit, but for me simply too large. I like the 3.7" size in the pocket but would prefer something larger in the hand. I think the 4.3" phones will be about right but I'd still be worried that they will flex too much in my pocket.

I'll probably hold onto my Desire as long as ROM's are being released for it. Use it as a preview for the next Android release.

I've only used the Nokia Lumia 800 and I agree WP7 is very smooth and the hardware is very nice too. I hear the 900 will be released here too and if Nokia say it will get WP8 it may sway my decision.

My priority for a phone is calls > email > txt and I would like a good camera. I also use tethering a fair bit and I really liked Google Maps/Navigation - never had the need for a paid version. Does WP7 have a free or cheap nav app that works as well as Google Maps?

Does anyone with a desire sitting around doing nothing fancy lending me their battery?

My desire stopped working a few months back so i got a ZTE Skate, but I miss my desire :-(

To explain what happened with me Desire, i was using it as normal and it locked up no amount of back button to kill or long press power button or simply waiting did anything so i have to remove the battery to reboot, but it never turned on :-(
