I phoned Vodafone this morning, they have them in stock and ready to send out next day, I just need to await payment confirmation from .Sean who is buying my Magic then I can get the ball rolling - hopefully I can have a Desire by the weekend at the latest!

So much excitement!

I believe the facebook in the phone part is something that cannot be fixed at the time being. XDA are saying there's no current fix either.

I've disabled syncing with facebook but they are all there, and it's quite annoying. Thankfully, the last calls that were made/missed/recieved are at the top, which is handy.
 
Got mine yesterday (Orange upgrade) evening and slowly getting used to it! One problem I'm having at the moment is getting Internet browsing via 3G working. It works via Wifi but not via 3G?!

I have no issues with the built in browser. It is amazingly quick and has all the features I need. I would however like it if my Google Chrome bookmarks could be synchronised with my phone. Maybe there is an app for it?

I talked to Voda too, apparently they've had limited stock today, but that won't be enough for all their back orders. They're expecting a big shipment on the 20th I believe.
 
ok, i still have a problem with the phonebook displaying my sim AND phone contacts, when i don't want it to show sim at all. I exported all my sim contacts to my phone, and then to the sd card to backup. I've unchecked all the options etc so that it should only be showing phone contacts (i did this via people --> menu ---> view ---> then unticked sim/gmail and ticked phone)...\

but when i click 'phone' from the home screen, and scroll down i have two entries for each contact, one from the phone and one from the sim. In order to only view the phone contacts i have to press menu then click people, which i don't really want to do. So what am i missing?? :)
 
It's similar to the facebook issue. Whenever you open up phone it lists every contact from every source and no way to filter it unlike the people view.

Not so sure on the Virgin coverage but if that's a free phone on a 18 month contract, then it's an average deal since the total cost would be £540

Lots of people on here were getting contracts worth around £450 - £480 and some lucky people near the £400 mark (maybe cheaper but I'm not sure).

I got my Desire contract at £362:p...10pm * 24mths with the phone costing me £122...originally it was £164 for the phone but managed to get £40 knocked off the price as they promised id have the phone by Sat but then told me it was Tues then rung me again on Mon to tell me that it will be Wed but somehow i got the phone yesterday:p...cant say im not chuffed :D

But saying that Tmobile have stopped the £10pm deal now...

And i need to ring Tmobile to get the content lock taken off....cant even browse the marketplace silly idiots..

Working as intended I believe. If you sync up with facebook so you can link contacts then it will automatically pull all contacts with mobile numbers into your phone book, and there's no option to disable it. Same with googlemail contacts. I believe the phone book simply displays all contacts with phone numbers.

Same deal as me but the minus 40 quid was through Quidco :)
Thank god I got my contract at the start T-Mobile released them. Seeing all these problems people are having and the price increases. Like you said, they seem to have stopped the £10 p/m contract :eek:

For the content lock, I just logged into My T-Mobile and switched it off there.

You can disable the content lock, if you login to the T-mobile website ^.^
 
Ok, back to phone talk here:

Has anyone figured out how to disable Sense on the Desire. Really want to a take a peek at the unadulterated Android 2.1 OS... please?
 
I've tried disabling it through settings > apps > running apps > then forcing a stop to sense UI. This didn't work though.

I believe the youtube video describes the above (in a bit more detail) but i've heard other people say it doesn't work either, so basically i've no idea!

If you have both Wifi and 3G switched on, it will pick Wifi over the 3G connection if possible. So make sure that Wifi is switched off and try again.
 
Does anyone know what the widget is called on the main screen that has the weather on it with temp and also time displayed as like a roller desk clock?

Not sure if I have explained that well.
 
It's the clock, just scroll sideways when adding it to select the one with weather built in.
