*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Does anyone know where I can get a version of HTC sync for the desire (i'm on windows 7)

(apparently its included on the SD card, but my SD card doesn't seem to be working properly, so i'm trying to access it with HTC sync :\)

edit : just trying an older version now
fingers crossed

Older versions wont work, you need to version on the SD card.

nope. I just dicovered that :)
So. I read that formatting the card can fix a 'sd card not found' kind of error. but I can't access the card without htc sync...and I can't access htc sync without the SD card. Its a horrible loop.

Is it not possible to find the version i need online?

or does anybody else know about this problem of the SD card not being found?

Or is there a way to look at the SD card without HTC sync. like.. in the devices in 'my computer'?

you don't need htc sync to access the card, you need to set the phone to 'mass storage' mode. when you plug in the usb cable you get 4 options, charge only, htc sync, disk drive and internet sharing. you need to choose the disk drive option, or you can use a micro sdhc card reader(dedicated or multicard type).

as the saying goes 'RTFM'(or in this case I think it's a quick start guide with the full manual on the disk) :)

Get a comfy seat, it'll be a while.....

LOL not really when Apple are now in the process of screwing iphone app developers with their restraints on the type of tools they can use;).

Keep it up Apple is all i have to say...hopefully the major devs for the iphone will come to the Android side of things...at least they wont be hindered by a company that thinks it knows whats best for its consumers:p.

Actually the Desire is now the number one smartphone in the world according to this:

Iphone is in second place:p

thanks.
I only get 3 options though. no 'mass storage'

Thankyouuuuuuuuuu

now to see if this actually fixes my problem :D

with the phone plugged in, should I be seeing the SD card in my removable storage devices in my computer? I'm not seeing it. This could be part of my problem, or maybe I need to change some settings?

DID YOU EVEN READ MY REPLY? OR LIKE EVERYONE ELSE TOTALY IGNORED IT(well I hardly get any replies to my questions/posts so feels like no one is bothering to read what I say or choosing to disregard/ignore it)?

htc sync isn't there to allow you to access the card, it 'syncs' your phone contacts, calander etc with outlook(plus a few other programs, I remember off hand right now).

to do what you want(i.e. get the card to show on 'my computer' on your pc), you need to use the 'disk drive' option from the list you get when you plug in the usb cable. if you missed it/chose the wrong option/want to chang modes you can reaccess the option by going to the notification bar.

edit: just noticed sid replied while I was typing. you should get 4 option(not sure why it's only showing only 3), it's not 'mass storage' but 'disk drive'

It's a pain having to prove to some of the stubborn Iphone owners that the Desire is far superior- can't wait till its broadcasted nationwide in the media that the Iphone killer has finally arrived!:D:D:D

i'm still just seeing the 3 options
charge only
htc sync
internet sharing

nothing about mass storage or disk drive

the message i get in the notifications is
'Removed SD card. Sd card removed. Insert a new one.

then If i open something that requires the card I'm told to insert it
the card is inserted.

the card is inserted

so i still got the issue of facebook contacts in the phone menu :/ really woud like a fix, maybe deleting a few soon off fb or trying to block their phone numbers there

also

is there a way to create a custom photo album for sorting photos into, i cant find how or if i can do that

HTC Magic has been sold to an ocuker (.Sean) so I shall be ordering the Desire soon!
