Thats £600 overall so not paying that, even for the extra minutes and texts, I very rarely make calls these days!

Still seems like the Phones4U Orange 18 month tariff is best for me online.

Man, retentions and customer services really arn't giving any options to me at all!

I'm not getting through to any nice ones! lol

Don't know what to do.
Could go with Virgin & keep my number, or P4U Orange deal & get a new number...?!?

How long does it take to port a number? Is it easy to port to O2 PAYG and then back again?
 
Just got my phone, and have been itching all day to get home and try it out.

Do I have to wait till the light goes green to turn it on...im tearing my hair out just looking at it!

Don't have my spreadsheet at home but my deal works out @£390 for 18months compared to £450 for the P4U (£415 if chashback works). But then again orange has magic number and orange wednesdays, but the phone is branded to hell etc etc. 6 of one half a dozen of another.
 
Gah, was ordering through P4U then forgot I hadn't clicked through Quidco.
Gone back through now and it's showing out of stock.

Guess i'll wait it out a bit longer & then hopefully some even better deals will come about.

Can anyone answer my query about porting to O2? Is it to a PAYG? Can there be any complications with it?
 
Not looking good now, Orange Desire is branded internally and on the back! :@

I know its a matter of time before a generic ROM gets released but I don't fancy rooting my Desire straight away and risk breaking it!

Will have to wait it out and keep looking I guess!
 
I think I will order the deal from Phones4U on Friday when stock arrives and see if their Desires are branded.

I have 7 days to return the phone and cancel the contract so thats ok.

Previous people have said that the P4U deal comes with an Orange branded handset so i'd guess they still will be.
 
My Desire is in it's box and ready to be sent back to MPD tomorrow morning. They've frustrated me to no end, and I still haven't been sorted out with a connected sim card (it's been 8 days).

Is there anywhere else on the high street that sells unbranded phones? I'm probably gunna go tomorrow and get another Desire from Carphone Warehouse, even though their contracts are 24 months. At least I'll have a working phone, and customer services when I need it...right? :rolleyes:

if I've read correctly you're already with orange and want to keep your number when you get the new contract through p4u? instead of porting to o2/t-mob/voda etc payg, just call orange and get your contract changed to payg. once the phone arrives it should just be a case of calling up and getting them to putting it on your new contract, tho can't p4u 'upgrade' the payg to contract when you get the desire?

I didn't get an answer in the accessory thread so not expecting one here, but with car charger is it better to spend a little more on a good one or just get one for couple of pounds(by good I don't mean spending £15+).

seen what is described as the official htc cm200 charger for £9.75 but the picture is for the miniusb version(cm100 if I remember correctly), on a lot of the sites saying the new microusb version but have pitcures of the miniusb one. Is it worth taking the risk and ordering the one for under £10?

Desire hasnt been rooted yet but over on xda someone has flashed a generic HTC Desire rom onto their Tmobile device and its taken off the internal branding....not that theres any on it other than the tmobile start up splash screen.

couldn't wait any longer for the 'black' version with all the orange crap in it and got unbranded via cpw on orange and no branding/apps in it..(hopefully anyway, i'm taking it off charge soon..hooray!!:) )

Sure is, I went into town yesterday to see about getting a cover/screen protector, when I was in the T-Mobile shop the guy handed me a cover so to test it out I whipped out my desire to see how it fits, and the guy just stood there and said I was very lucky to have one as they only get them in small quantities.

Funny you should say that - I had some guy leering over my shoulder on the way home tonight (northern line char x branch) whilst playing bejewled. Eventually he asked where I got it from as apparently he'd been looking all over London for one ... poor guy

Loving the phone though - first days use and the battery was on 9%... guess its to be expected but its still quite shocking ...that aside its by far the best gadget I've purchased

I played with a Magic at the Vodafone store in Heathrow while waiting for my flight - I liked it a lot, it's actually thinner than the iPhone and my magic which I thought were thin! The rubberise solid shell felt great mixed in with the cool aluminium parts. The scrolling on the launcher tray does slow down (framerate drop) as it ends at the bottom but only slightly. I think this is a SenseUI thing as this happens on other Sense enabled phones too.

I loved how fast everything loads up on it and the screen, the screen was amazing.

Awesomeness.

Also a bearded man on my flight pulled out a desire after we landed and did some shiz, I looked and imagined myself doing that next time round ¬_¬
