*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Lol, "abysmal" is a bit harsh, but it's certainly underwhelming... especially when put next to the Z2 and its 3200 mAh cell!

HTC batteries have always been on the light side though, so no real surprise tbh.

assuming power requirements are equal across all thats nearly 25% more juice that the z2 has over the M8.

I really dont understand. Everyone knows that one of the major issues with big screen smart phones is battery, bigger batteries exist..why not use it?

even if up time was better on the M8 than Z2 due to efficiency why not inrease it further?

i think most people would add a fraction more weight for this? I sure would anyway.

im sticking with abysmal for capacity :p

Compared to the previous video leak, this shows a lot more features of Sense 6.0. Seems changing the theme can actually change the colours of some elements such as the quick toggle tiles. The design looks overall flatter yet it does feel like a good step up from 5.5. I'm actually warming up to the new version of Sense.

I'm waiting for the reviews of this, the Z2 and the S5 before deciding anything.

Definitely a good time to upgrade, there'll be great selection of phones to choose from. Even the older phones are holding their own, like the Note 3 which still has me intrigued (although practicality is putting me off) and LG G2 is currently £300 from ****** which has got be superb value for money?

Just need to see some reviews and comparisons, i'm definitely going with an Android phone for now, leaving my upgrade free for the iPhone 6 later in the year....just incase.

Similar situation to me. I definitely will have the Note 3 under consideration when looking at the new phones, it'll be cheaper too, which makes it even more tempting. The G2 is very good as well, but the buttons on the back (I know it's meant to be good) and software skin put me off, no SD slot either?

I have high hopes for the iPhone 6, and I do really like the iPhone, so maybe Apple can 'wow' us later in the year.

The only quibble I have with this phone is the stupid black space where the HTC logo is.

Why is it even there anymore? There are no capacitive buttons like the M7, its literally there just so the HTC logo has a place.

Wow, release on day of announcement? Looks like HTC really wants to beat Samsung to it. Can't wait to give it a play around in store.

Just need to wait a week now...

HTC are so close yet so far, the design looks very good, all the specs look appealing bar the camera which I'm slightly worried about as it seems to be the same as the M7. Battery is not amazing but it should be enough, my Nexus 5 with 2300mha lasts me all day just fine.

But god is this phone tall, they went on screen buttons, still kept the logo on the front, increased the screen size, and thought it was a great idea. At least phones like the Z2 have a huge ass camera sensor, 25% bigger battery to justify the size, and IIRC still include stereo speakers. Whats HTCs excuse for the size of this device, lol.

So close. But I really hope they do advertising and branding correctly this time, I would still properly pick the M8 over the S5 if push came to shove and I had to get one, hopefully they can tell the public why.

HTC One specs Confirmed. Most interesting part is the camera.

The question with the camera is a bit more complicated – it says 4MP and 16MP. There are two cameras on the back but could the difference in resolution for both sensors be that big or was something lost in translation? The video capture resolution is pretty clear though – 1080p doesn’t need translation.

The 16MP probably references the maximum upscaled output from the two 4MP cameras. The Toshiba dual 5MP unit generates a 13MP image for example.

Edit: Don't forget 4 times 4 is 16 and HTC need to complete on numbers even though the 16MP output is just ott upscaling, the default will probably be 8MP or something.
