That looks legendary, plus that your replacement is flawless in terms of build quality.

How long did it take to convert to GPe? Was it fairly easy to do so?

Took about 20 minutes in total, excluding downloading the SDK files and RUU :)

Quite straight forward really!

Benjo what made you get this over another sammy. I have a S3, and looking at something new.

I was going to be rooting and romming any device I got, so Sense vs Touchwiz wasn't an issue for me.

At the end it came down to getting a good deal on the M8 and wanting to try a HTC device again :) I had a HTC Desire years ago, and then had an S2 and S3!

So your screen is flush with the speakers top and bottom? No wobbly volume rocker or power button? or machine scratches on the chrome bezel running around the phone?

If not that's good for you.

Screen not only looks flush but feels flush as well.
Volume rocker and power button are fine.
Can't see any scratches on the bezel

I got the urban armour gear case. Had one on my M7 and loved it so ordered a clear one for the M8 and superb also. Build quality is first class and with the clear one I can still see the bulk of my stunning phone :-)
Bought a glass screen protector also £5 well spent.

My M8 is taking really bad pictures now - the lens appears to have a coating similar to the old HTC Desire which is easily worn/damaged. Pictures now really foggy.

Can any one recommend a good camera app for this phone ? i HATE the way it saves a pic ID as an img number rather than time and date it was taken, ive used google camera which saves as time and date but the app itself seems alittle basic ?

Benjo, did you have a guide on rooting and flashing the GPe edition? :)

Yeah, I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589 :)

First you'll need the Android SDK and HTC USB Drivers (HTC Sync). Install HTC Sync, and then uninstall it (drivers stay installed).

Once you've done that, you'll need to unlock your bootloader using HTCdev.

At this point I flashed Philz recovery through fastboot

Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

and installed any rooted custom rom. You'll need to be rooted to be able to s-off.

Then I used firewater to s-off.

Once you're s-off, you can follow the instructions in the original XDA thread to flash the RUU :)

Let me know if I haven't made sense anywhere..

Sounds good, cheers!

The last time I flashed a custom rom was with my HTC Desire HD years ago, been with iOS since then until I picked up my M8 last week :)
