*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

I really don't think it does scratch the phone, it might if you had some grit or something in between the case and the phone, but this applies to any phone/case.

It is rather horrible though so should be avoided for that reason. :p

locked bootloader so I guess it's worth rooting straight away too as it wipes the ROM.

Yeah it's very easy with Samsung devices - though with KNOX warranty void it's made the choice a lot hard to root.

Unlocking the bootloader only wipes the /Data partition (make sure you back it up if you have anything on there) not the ROM. I have done it; it was very easy using HTC DEV and a tutorial on YouTube.

Yes sorry that's what I meant to say - wipes the data (apps/sms/call log etc etc), not the actual ROM Software.

Looking for a case now. I'd like something that wraps the top and bottom edges as well as the sides.

Anyone have any recommendations?

edit: Apparently it comes with a case? :p

I'm using the Spigen Ultra Fit Capsule I'm very pleased with it, you can still see the nice finish on the phone and it covers all the edges.
I'm also using the Spigen glass screen protector just in case, don't want to be cracking the screen like I did on my M7.

All of our family phones always use the Sena Ultraslim case. Multiple generations of iPhones, HTC Sensation, etc.

But when I looked I couldn't see one for the M8 yet :(

Well I ordered a case before I saw doggo's recommendation.

I got the Nillkin Frosted Shield, I'll let you know what it's like once I get it :)

At £10.99 the case is amazing value, even if I had to change it after 6 months I'd be happy to at that price.

I've had some Spigen products in the past and have been very impressed by them, the Glass screen protectors are awesome, a but expensive to worth the money.

Let us know how you get on with the one you ordered benjo.

So my phone got delivered this morning.

Is anyone else's volume rocker quite loose? I can hear it rattle..

The volume rocker is ok on my one, however the on/off button seems rather loose, you can't hear it rattle but it is loose.
This is the second phone I've had, the first one went back to P4U after a day as the screen was not sat properly, you'd think htc would have sorted out their QC issues by now or will they never learn :(

I went through four HTC M8's and each of them had an issue I experienced exactly the same thing with the HTC One the year previously.

I really don't think HTC should emphasise the premium build quality when their QC obviously needs sorting out.

Can't say I've seen any of those problems with my M8 ... quality seems fine to me personally ...

So your screen is flush with the speakers top and bottom? No wobbly volume rocker or power button? or machine scratches on the chrome bezel running around the phone?

If not that's good for you.

On another note rumours are swirling around that HTC are about to get involved in this 'Prime' race and release a HTC Prime shortly.

It comes via @evleaks on Twitter who are nearly always spot on with their leaks.

I spotted this with mine in certain light, but then can't find it again. Also spotted the "gunmetal grey" seems to scratch very easily around the sd slot pin hole :(

There also looks like a white speck around the thin strip around the phone just insite that chrome bezel, kinda annoying, but will see.
