*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

It's not the smallest of cases, probably adds 3mm width all over.

Makes the phone feel a lot better though. The textured back is an improvement over the slippery back.

Do you use a case? I'm not sure how well these friction stands would work with the textured back on my Casemate Tough

Getting one of these tomorrow. Anyone own a bicycle mount for this? Does such a thing exist? Also one of those gimmicky macro camera lense add-ons. I had one for my iphone and it wasn't so gimmicky after all, I found.

I suspect because it's a version with lesser software than the original.

But that is obviously a matter of perspective.

You can either see it as a sign that WP8 is gaining traction, a sign that HTC are desperate to drive some volume or a sign that WP8 isn't gaining traction and the best they can get is a 6 month old android flagship reworked rather than having anyone spend proper development time on hardware.

or a mixture of all 3.

To be clear I think it's a sign that Verizon can buy enough of a handset to make it worth HTCs while to make something exclusive.

Why Verizon actually want it though is anyone's guess.

Windows Phone gaining traction? What?

Which bit of the statement do you want me to explain? The bit where I said it could be a sign of windows phone gaining traction or just the general english I used?

Because you'll have a hard time telling me I'm wrong when I didn't actually state a belief either way.

For what its worth the numbers do suggest it's getting somewhere albeit slowly in the EU, particularly Central Europe, in fact in a few countries in Europe Windows Phone now has a larger share than iOS but clearly still nowhere in comparison to Android.

Go look at Italy and Spain for example.

Again, for reference I don't have and have no plans to own a Windows Phone device, I don't particularly like the OS but that said it is very slowly gaining a bit of ground.

And more to the point there's a lot of the market to go at for them, things like the One M8 for Windows are only pointless if you just accept the status quo. I mean they've got to try something haven't they? Both of them frankly.. WP is growing way too slowly and HTC are pretty much on their knees.. if there was any point anyone buying them then I'm sure it would have happened by now.

In the end they seem to be doing a pretty good job of putting themselves out of business.

I thought I would never find a camera that would take worse photos than me. Behold, the HTC M8! God I knew from reviews it wasn't great but DAYUM!

The HTC One M8's camera is very good. It deals with low light photos well, it takes photos near instantly with no lag, it captures good detail, has sensible file sizes etc. The only thing that it doesn't do as well as the 13MP offerings is capture large landscape photos which is only really evident when put on a large screen. If you're planning on taking a photo of anything other than a large landscape, or it will be only viewed on phones/tablets/Facebook/it will be scaled down - the HTC One M8's camera is fantastic.

The camera is nowhere near "not great" and i'd suggest it's probably the camera operator that's "not great" rather than the camera itself.

It runs the same spec as the Android version.
