***The Official HTC One Thread***

It is under normal usage that I detected the issue on mine pal. It's an issue because it's a gradual increase in the height difference from the right to the left of the bottom where speaker grill & the screen mean. This gradual increase in height makes me think it's the uneven application of the glue for the speaker grill or some dodgy clamping whilst the two surface mate that's the cause of the issue.

And yes, it gets annoying as your thumb slides over it again & again.

I know you can feel a slight join, but that's because there is a join. The One is unusual in this regard as it's not a slab of glass like most other phones.

I'll let you know if I take a brave pill & do it.:p

For those having issues with the weather thing. I got mine to work after downloading GSP Test off the market & went into the settings of it & clear the AGPS then updated AGPS then allowed the device to get a GPS fix with the app. After that my weather works properly.

Don't OD on the pills Mate! As reading the fix it's quite scary! ;)

This is just hilarious :D

I can't believe people are actually going to try and "fix" a brand new product with a hairdryer etc... just baffling...

The same thing I can't understand. Ooh look at my £500 phone which is defective out of the box. I know I'll try fix it myself and could invalidate the warranty if I cook something!

The same with people being happy to live with these defects. If every device you purchased had defects and people just thought oh well the manu's would be laughing even more on the way to the bank.

Agreed Robbo

Honestly, if I were to buy a HTC one, I'd rather wait a month or two so for them to sort out the build quality issues first. By that time, prices would generally fall as well, so double bonus and also the software update to 4.2.2 as well as bug fixes will be available so triple bonus!

Will have none of the hairdryer treatment!

The fit and finish on my Dad's HTC One is pretty perfect. Flush speakers and a 99% perfect top end.

If you guys are not happy with your One, definitely get it changed as there are good examples out there.

Your logic fails when the same joined area on the left part of the device doesn't feel like there is a barrier/bump when you are using the device.

It's just money if it goes wrong & I'm guessing people are willing to try it because getting an exchange is no guarantee that they will get a better device & might even end up with something even worse.

I'm not too bothered as yet with it.

Well unless they can deliver a (pretty much) perfect piece of hardware, I don't want it. Shame really. It's hardly an outlandish expectation...

I'd also bet most people don't have £500 to fluff away without thought.

Robbo, I'm sure that HTC will sort out the build quality issue eventually! Unlike Samsung/Apple they don't have the benefit of using a similar build for subsequent phones.

Eg HTC Desire> HTC Sensation> HTC One X > HTC One

All those had totally different looks/build.

Yep I have the same expectations too and certainly don't have £500 to throw away. I guess most if not all of us work really hard for our money and expect the best when it comes to quality.

I p'ssed my pants watching it. So funny it's unreal :D

@kona Excellent pictures Mate, the HO looks majestic there! :)

Guys if you slide your finger along the top or bottom of your phone where this supposed gap should be is it rough?

The top of my phone where the front meets the back (aka the gap) is a bit "rough". It feels as if it hasn't been filed down.

We always knew there were Apple fanboys but now HTC fanboys.... seriously? I thought android devices were fighting in one corner together!

All's fair in love and war but not business! and as Intratech quite rightly said Sammy fanboys are pretty bad as any other fanboys

DEAD!

Was just looking at the BBC News app on mine when it froze up and started to get really hot, it then powered itself off and now wont turn back on.

Looks like a trip to P4U tomorrow.
