***The Official HTC One Thread***

Most?

You use the wrong apps.

Well, on the HTC One X the majority of them had the black bar. I don't expect that to be much different. I bet most of them do. The stock ones will be okay and that's about it. Such a shame.

Also, there's no such thing as "the wrong apps", but go ahead and blame the developers instead of your beloved HTC. ;)

It's a shame some are having issues as mine is mint no problems 3 weeks on, best phone I used and I thought the DNA was good.

Wish that update would hurry up for SIM free phones.

You've come from a good position to compare the HO to the DNA Dude.

The update's hitting UK Sim Free phones now, check it out!

I'm downloading it now :D

Good info, thanks. Get mine Tuesday!! :D

Have Orange users begun receiving the update yet at all?

No worries

From what I know both 02 and Vodafone HO's have received updates, not sure about any Orange / T Mobile users here. If anyone with on Orange / T Mob / EE can confirm they've had the update?

I have a SH34H (Shanghai, 17th April 2013) with absolutely no problems. No edge issues and the speakers are flush.

Really do like the phone though. Taking a while to get used to the lack of a third button, but I'm loving it so far!

That's a very recent build, great that there's no issues with your HO.

No Dude, it's not as bad as the other HO's that I owned and the faults I can live with so I'm keeping it....

I hear you mate.

I will most likely sell the S4 on though I want to sample the screen first

My software version

Is it the latest?

It is the app developers fault that their app hasn't been updated to no longer use the black menu bar. They shouldn't have been using it since ICS.

I reckon that you will hold onto the S4 Dude, especially when custom ROMs start appearing for it. Have you got rid of your S3 LTE? Personally I wouldn't sell the S3 LTE on because you have it set up just right and IMO the S3 LTE can still hold it's own against the S4. Unless you want a better camera and the added features (which are apparently coming to the S3) later, I'd stick with it.

Is your HO locked to a particular network? That's unfortuately not the latest software version as 1.29.401.12 is hitting phones now. The update is network dependent people with Voda and O2 HO's have been reporting the past week that they've received the update and Sim Free phones have been getting the update from this morning. :)

Yayyy - update available for my sim-free HO :)
Downloading now, OTA (Full Monty :p)....hopefully will fix the only issue I have come across in my few days with the HO, which is occasional error reports being generated after abnormal something or other - think the phone may have restarted overnight or similar, but no idea what has been going on. Hasn't actually affected me....but

Previously on 1.28.401.7 - update is 1.29.401.12

Regardless of that, nothing changes the fact it's there. :(

Can you not remap the button yet in the update people are talking about?!

I am a sucker for SAMOLED so you could be right. Though I really am hacked off with Samsung's lame design again. Need a full hand's on to decide.

Yes I still have the i9305 and it feels just as speedy as the HO tbh, which is a nice surprise.

Yes locked to T-Mob I believe, not checked with a different SIM yet.

T-Mob are usually slow with updates - lame!

Have you noticed any improvements mate?

Just been to Carphone to check out the HTC One and GalaxyS4 and walked out with a black HTC One (which I didn't know you could get. Thought they were all silver!). The S4 was nice and felt a lot batter built than I expected but the air gesture and eye tracking was too gimmicky for me. The speakers, screen and build of the One were lovely and that swayed me.

SIM-free ? When I bought mine a few days ago, P4U were happy to sell to me, but CPW said they didn't have any available for Sim-free, as they were keeping their stock for contract deals!

For the guys who have bought a contract phone of the HO in store, what deals have you bought? I'm tempted to go to carphonewarehouse etc, but the deal on Affordable Mobiles is too good (unlimited data/texts and 500 mins for £26 a month. £30 handset cost). Only issue is their stock seems to be incredibly short!

Cheers guys.

No, in fact it was a feature that did exist in early (pre-release) firmware versions but it had to be removed unfortunately.

Yeah, I know it was on the early units at the launch, shame they removed it. Is it true that Google forced them to remove it?! What a joke. :(
