***The Official HTC One Thread***

Plenty of people have, maybe not as many here (although iirc kona said his is perfect ) but on XDA, mkhdb (youtube guy) etc.

If you are referring to the gaps as well, they aren't "faults". From the pics of the GS 4, GS 3, one S that I posted previously, they have gaps that are even more noticeable, does that mean they are "faulty/really badly made" too? :p

Took me a while to notice the black dot :o :p Can't see/find it in the first pic though???

Was someone posting in here about the location thing on the weather app not working properly, or did I just make that up?

Just took this in the direct sunlight…

It's not great though is it. And yes the GS4 is very badly made. :D :p

Yeah, Fox.

Has anyone actually got one that isn't faulty/badly made? Seems really bad. :(

I think the problem is that we here are quite anal about our devices, I showed my gaps to a few people (whehey) and they thought I was crazy to even have noticed them. If you compare the gaps to normal consumer goods then they are nothing, but I'd like a £500 phone to be like a £500 watch personally.

Yeah, I agree. I guess that is asking too much though considering the rate they are pumped out. Pity.

If you were on the ripoff that is EE that'd be no more internet for a month for you :D

I used some of my all-you-can-eat data to download the rest of LA Noire for me the other day. It's just 5-6x faster than the home internet...(2.2MB/s) Bring on the 4G at the end of the year! :p

Perhaps for some people :p But I honestly think it is a non issue especially since the rest of the one's build quality oozes perceived quality with great aesthetics overall.

Just guessing now since I haven't examined every single area of phones :p but if you were to count the number of gaps on the one (noticeable ones), it would be about 2-4 and they would only be small i.e. the speaker cover is the main area where the gaps are), now if we were to count the number of noticeable gaps on say the GS 4, GS 3 etc. there would be about 5-8, possibly more and they would be much longer/wider i.e. where the back casing connects and not only that but said devices build quality won't be as good and they will feel nowhere as premium as the one.

The only devices that I can think of that have hardly any gaps (at least not noticeable ones) are the one x, some of nokia's phones i.e. lumia 800 (although you have quite a gap where the flaps are at the top) and the the iphone 5 (haven't looked at the other iphones), there are probably more i.e. possibly the xperia Z etc. And some of those phones wouldn't feel/be as good when it comes to build/perceived quality i.e. the one S and one despite them having a few more gaps

And yup, if I was to show those gaps to my friends/family and say that they shouldn't be there, returning devices purely due to that etc. they would think that I suffered from OCD big time :p

Got a bit of a result with P4U today with swapping my S4 for a ONE. Going to stay on the same tariff but they will refund the £80 for the phone so getting the ONE for free for £47 a month on a 12 month contract. He also said due to inconvenience he will give a me a reference number so that in 9 months time they will pay off the last 3 months of my contract and let me upgrade my phone/get a new tariff ( only if i buy from them or dialaphone though ofcourse).

He also made a note that if this exchange at all affects my quidco cashback (which he said it wouldnt as long as the contract/tariff stays the same) and i dont get that, P4U will personally pay me the £110 cashback

If you get put through to an accounts manager they sort of do everything they can to stop you cancelling :D. I have to say im am impressed.

Only down side is that this will take a week or more to turnaround (in sending phone back to them and getting the new one) meaning the £227 recycle quote i got for my S3 will expire so i ahve lost out a bit there.

Yes the one I have is pretty darn perfect - flush speaker grills and the top gap near power button is there but really tiny and un-noticeble.

what gaps on the S4 Nexus?

And I'm really impressed with the S4 build quality. Fit and finish is perfect, there's no gaps where the dust can get trapped like on the S3 and S2 (between glass and frame for example). Back cover clicks in great too with no creakes like the S2 and Note1 had.

They are only noticeable if you really look for them just like with the htc one but you can see them (camera lens area being the most noticeable) and on some areas, they aren't exactly even all the way along either (another complaint with the gap(s) on the one)

As I said when I first posted them, they don't bother me in the slightest because it is perfectly normal, reason I have posted all the pics of the GS 3 etc. gaps is just to back up my point and to hope that people would stop referring to them as "faults" :p

That is another thing to bare in mind, the gaps will be even more noticeable on the white/silver phones than the black phones.

hmmm lol. Fair enough.

Some of them might not even be a gap but just lighting.

Mine is black and a good fit so nothing noticable to the eye or touch at all - thank god :D

Been playing with the S4 and the One and the stuttering on the S4 is a joke. It is all the time even with the extra features turned off. Feels like a device from a couple of years ago!

That is rather hilarious really. Of all things TouchWiz is usually really smooth. Guess they bodged it. :p

It really is quite strange. If the One did not exist then I am sure we would be blaming the 1080p resolution for the occasional stutter but the One has proved that 1080p can be buttery smooth on the Snapdragon 600.

If you get chance try and have a play with one and I am sure you will be shocked. The One deserves to be the top phone more than ever now.
