***The Official HTC One Thread***

Cheers, removed it and not had since.

The mail app is going bonkers though, randomly adding letters or words. I press 3 letters and i get a 15 letter word of gibberish :s

I had this issue with Swiftkey after the 4.2 update.....there is a Beta Swiftkey out there that does not manifest this issue.....

Is there anyway of disabling the main screen that comes up when you unlock the screen? I find it has too much information and seems cluttered. I know I can set a different screen as default but Can I remove this somehow?

Not without changing launcher afaik.

My right headphone died today, lasted two months, ive had ones last less time to be fair.

Debating on what to do as I like the pause button on the HTC headphones but don't want to replace them every two month!

Just hit 51% battery life with 2:20 hours screen time so far, very pleased with viper Rom and faux kernel.

Have a look at Nox icons, amazing in my eyes!

Any way of get old 'Play Movies' back? Mine just updated to new version and its missing the own videos section :-( . It was so good wathing you own stuff from there now I have to use Gallery which doesnt seem right

can anyone recommend a good 'slim line' case for the HTC one? I've narrowed these down to:

1) Spigen thin air (also comes with a screen protector which is a bonus)
2) Poetic atmosphere
3) Incipio feather shine

Feel free to recommend any others.

cheers

You can't get rid of it without a custom launcher, however you can set another screen as the home screen and stinky never look at it. Long hold on a screen to get to the widget options then long hold on the screen hi want to have as home then drag up when able to select as home :-)

So do prototype prefer beats audio on our off ?

Also which apps best showcase this incredible screen? So far every app has looked better than on my old desire s but there must be some that make it look simply incredible?

2) Poetic atmosphere says 3 year warranty but lots of reviews say they fall apart quickly

I'm looking at the TeckNet® HTC One Case Black Survivor Heavy Duty Cover with Stand Included Screen Protector For HTC One 2013 M7

It makes the handset bulky but great protection!

Beats on if playing through the speakers, Beats off if through headphones.

The difference beats makes with the speakers is quite frankly amusing, it sounds horrid without it on. Although if you are good at making EQ's I guess you could find what you like.

yeh in the shop beats HAS to be on with the speakers (almost as though they made the 'off' setting purposefully worse, hmmm) but I can see I wouldn't use it with headphones

So did my poetic atmosphere but poetic replaced it for free and the replacement has been flawless. I believe they had some glue issues with the first batch. It's an excellent case and i'm really pleased with mine now.

P.S don't get the white edged one, the white discolours very easily. I have the black one and it looks brilliant event on the silver phone, it's very well fitting and slim so you barely notice it

The only thing i think of that makes me sway towards the S4 is the expandable memory/battery where as the HTC one has fm radio and i feel is better build quality.

Still cant decide on this or the S4 ahhhhhhh

HTC one:

- superior loudspeakers
- better camera overall (macro shots, OIS, wider FOV, low light, the way zoe works is better since you don't have to select the required mode first and you can apply a number of affects at any time and more importantly you capture more consistent usable shots so it is much better if you have kids, pets, HDR mic [although this may have been replaced by now] and overall better video recording)

GS 4:

- removable battery + SD slot (am sure Samsung will also release a bigger battery in the future that doesn't add any extra weight or size, like the gs 3 bigger battery)
- RGB NLED
- better camera in bright conditions and mainly landscape areas + better HDR mode, much better when it comes to zooming/cropping
- slightly better battery life
- much quicker charge time

Design, screen and software are personal preference, for me:

- GS 4 is more comfortable in the hand where as the HTC one feels far more premium/solid

- Prefer the GS 4 screen for true blacks, vivid colours, infinite contrast ratio etc. HTC one screen is also fantastic.

- sense is MILES better, the UI is clean, unified, professional/minimal looking (hate the sense launcher though) and the browser, camera + gallery app are amazing apps that no 3rd party apps can replace imo

Touchwiz has more features throughout but a lot of it is gimmicks (besides you can now get most of the features via an app) and the UI is awful, there is no unified feel, colour scheme looks awful and due to the bloat etc. it actually doesn't feel as quick overall as the htc one or other phones (at the start it was much worse and it received an update, which vastly improved it), if you root and flash a custom rom, this won't be a problem then.

- I really like the design of both the phones, although prefer the GS 4 design overall, I think the front and sides look better, essentially the only thing I don't like about the gs 4 is the plastic finish. HTC one just has too much bezel (the price you pay for front speakers though), stupid navigation buttons and logo placement etc.
