***The Official HTC One Thread***

Are you going to root and flash custom ROMs?

TBH, I would hold out for the nexus 5 if possible, we should hopefully get it this November/December and I have a feeling that KLP is going to be amazing.......

:D

Just remembered, you owned the one s too and flashed it so you shouldn't have any problems with htc one then :p Am sure both have a superb amount of ROMs to choose from and will be supported for a long time.

how the cheese did you remember i had a one s>?

TBH i do like the thought of the sd card and battery being replacable on the S4........

How does anyone make a decision. Its not been this harder a choice for years !

Not sure if i could wait that long for the nexus 5

Superb memory! :p

I think the samsung devices usually have a fair bit more to play around with i.e. you can't get the same sort of themes to mess around with on htc/sense devices as you would with touchwiz/galaxy devices, essentially you could have a de-bloatified touchwiz ROM with a stock android colour scheme/UI.

went in to EE shop today to get one and he said are you sure we have had 90% return rate on these phones and the S4 is so much better?

any views anyone?

90%?

They're paid to push the S4 so I would expect them to push it but that's pretty under handed!

It has as many issues as any other phone (including S4 and iPhone).

5% is probably more like it.

That guy is just a douche. The 2 phones are great, just depends on which features appeal more to you.

I work in a phone shop. Trust me when u say that the people that work with me are more clueless than you could imagine. Samsung have a higher commision/kickback than most companies, and is allowed them to gain a major foothold in marketshare. Go by online reviews from knowledgeable people and not us.

What the others have said. That is largely why Samsung have been so successful as they essentially "bribe" the network etc. shops and sales associates to push their phone onto the customers even if it doesn't suit them. Can't blame them tbh as the pay isn't great so why not make more money if they can by doing that?

They are just clueless monkeys who know how to sell devices to the average joes.

of course ill be flashing custom roms how dare you ask that~!?:D

I've just restored my One to stock. I was getting problems with custom ROMs like the phone zapping battery whilst switched off (presumably not switching off properly), the phone randomly turning on whilst off and the softkeys flashing.

It was also a pain to flash updated radio/bootloader, so I decided to ditch the hassle and restore it back to the factory image. Gotta say though, YMMV.

HTC One is the first android phone that I haven't felt the need to root and flash custom ROMs. With the stock ROM I get great performance, great battery life, and everything just works. Might feel different in 6 months mind!

Ginga

90% return rate. Lol
Galaxy S4 much better. Lol.
Taking phone advice from people who work in phone shops. Lol.

You get that these people are doing what I suspect most of us on here do? ie doing what they need to do to get paid for a days work? This is straight up shop work, not altruistic knowledge dissemination.

I find the way some people sneer at shop workers on minimum wage really misguided and pretty pathetic.
