***The Official HTC One Thread***

Recently changed what I use for my keyboard. Was going to try swiftkey but saw that google have their own free one so tried it out.

Initial reports are good! has removed that annoying .com button that i kept hitting when trying to tap the stupidly small keyboard.

other things that are good are the £ symbol being on the first page instead of the $ even though language is set to UK english like on the stock keyboard.

Also has 2 colour options blue and black, I use the black. Has other customization options but too many for me to list. well worth a look.

If anyone finds the stock keyboard irritating then give it a go

Can anyone recommend a good case?

I need something durable because I take it out of the case to use the cradle in the car.

I've been using a leather flip case but the plastic frame only lasts a few weeks of taking it in and out.

Luckily they're cheap from a market stall.

Suggest something like the Case Mate Tough Case. Has a nice grip finish and thick rubber, but doesn't over bulk like an Otterbox. http://www.case-mate.com/HTC-One-M8-Cases/Case-Mate-HTC-One-M8-Tough-Case.asp#

Usually end up with these for all of my phones.

Perhaps you are more suited to a sleeve/sock type case? One where you keep the phone in a soft sleeve and take it out to use it?

Please please can anyone point me towards which file I need for a RUU for a 3 model. I believe it is the h3g cid.

I have tried flashing a rom which seemed to fail mid way through. Now the phone is stuck in a boot loop and cant enter recovery or be detected by the pc. I have managed to reflash a version of twrp but it still wont boot it. It gets to a splash screen then starts rebooting.

I can get it into fastboot but where do I go from here?

What did you try flashing it with?

I can't seem to find any RUU for the 3 version. Are you S-ON or S-OFF?

The bootloader is unlocked and shows *tampered*

It was the viper rom I tried to flash.

The toolkit gives the option to download and flash the twrp recovery. Not sure which method it uses.

What was the original firmware you were on? Can you still access fastboot?

If you was on Android 4.3 before, then there's a good chance we can run the stock unbranded RUU instead.

If you can get into fastboot there will almost always be a way of resolving your issue. It's a pain. I can't remember exactly but I had the same sort of thing. Fastboot was all I could access (no recovery, rom etc). I believe I had to ADB push recovery.

You should s-off as soon as you have a ROM installed, it makes life a lot easier.

As above, download TWRP and the nandroid backup (and I suggest renaming it recovery.img and the nandroid backup to something like rom.zip to make the flashing easier), place them in your ADB folder, and do the following to flash the latest TWRP on your phone:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache

Then try to boot into TWRP and mount /sdcard and do the following on your PC:

adb push rom.zip

Then go back to the main screen of the recovery, do a factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache, then proceed to flash zip from sdcard. Once it's finish flashing go back to the main recovery screen and select reboot.

This should then allow the phone to boot. Since it's the first boot this will take a good while.

Once that's done, if you still plan to try out custom ROMs, I suggest S-OFF as that will make the recovering process a hell of a lot easier: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632351

Perhaps even consider changing the CID to HTC__001 (EU unbranded) or 11111111 (Super CID) after S-OFFing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317536

3's CID could be one reason why the custom ROM failed to flash.
