***The Official HTC One Thread***

i think you should visit specsavers again.. that HDR shot does not look great at all :D
looks ok when resized for normal use

Even when not resized, I think it looks good.

Unless grudas is talking about when you zoom in then I can see why it doesn't look good but as said many times, that was always going to be the case with "only" 4MP and any phone that has more MP will always be better for that area.

Go back and look at the S2 version of that shot Nexus. Pay attention to the green bush, on the corner of the street and look at the detail of the leaves.

On the One the bush looks like one whole blocky blurry mess, on the S2 the bush has noticeable leaf details and looks much better.

When you re-size it as Kona has done then it becomes much more acceptable. However the lack of detail in high res shots is very very noticeable.

The HDR shot looks simply okay, but this is the thing, the phone seems a step backwards from what we currently have (and not a small one at that).

Perhaps HTC weren't right to gamble. I'd have been happy with a marginally improved (or even not) HTC One X/S camera. :/

If I were looking at the S4 or One I think the camera on the One would be enough to steer me firmly in the S4 direction. I hope for HTC's sake it is software as some seem to believe because as it is it's a pretty major flaw. :/

Personally I can't see that "much" of a difference in order to worry about (viewing the image when not zoomed in) especially on a tiny "bush" :p

Viewing both photos (HDR VS the GS 2 shot), I think the one looks better overall (however, for that sort of condition i.e. dark/cloudy HDR will generally look better anyway), however, comparing the normal shots, then I think the GS 2 looks better. Now if a photo was taken using HDR on the GS 2 then I might think different.

the thing is you're comparing S2 to the "one"

s2 is old, yes it had a great camera for its time but s3 is even better.. and s4 should top that too..

the big point htc is making is that MPX is nothing.. yet they seem to fail big time on this..

its as if samsung marketed s4 as the "plastic fantastic"

*do you remember the first time you opened a yogurt can.. so do we.. now every time you pull out your s4 out of the pocket the first thing your mates will think is "oohh nature inspired muller i remember those"*

I think the fact that is just about competing with a galaxy s 2 is disappointing. For someone like myself who has a S3 it should really be competing with the S4 (just with less pixels but with better low light pictures)

This is a comparison to the GS 2, not the GS 4 etc. As has been shown constantly, the htc one camera seems to vary a lot when it comes to quality so it could just be that elixir has a poor "one" regarding the camera i.e. another "one" could produce much better results than his "one"

I am not expecting the one to only be compared to the GS 2 (it should be exceeding the one series, gs 3 etc. phones), elixir posted photos comparing the two to give us an idea, we posted our opinions, no one is saying about this beating the GS 4 or xperia z as he didn't post any photos from them and we won't know for sure about the gs 4 until reviews etc. are up and we can't assume that the gs 4 will be better, as for all we know, it might not be, it is using the same camera sensor as the xperia Z, oppo 5 and their cameras aren't exactly "good" (although that could be largely down to their software)

However, there are photos comparing the two where the one does look better i.e.

http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-one-versus-sony-xperia-z

Although those images were resized but either way the one definitely captures more detail there as well as having better colours.

Then a crappy quick comparison to the GS 4:

Good stuff mate - when's it due for delivery?

Was due for delivery on the 30th March, but got fed up with Rainforest messing around and have now gone with P4U and should get delivery this week if all goes well.

I used the Rainforest voucher (again) to buy the media link and only paid £1.79 towards it.

@Elixir Congratulations being the first person to get the HTC One! I hope you enjoy using it! :)

Those One shots looks too digital, too dated, camera phone-esque from the early phones, if that makes sense.

Pre-ordered today on mobilephonesdirect.co.uk it's the lusty premium design that's got me drooling. The camera I'm hoping will improve as the software is refined and if not then slightly improved low-light performance over my S2 would be a good thing and the non-blown up pictures look fine to me. I can use an SLR for proper photos.

I don't know when it'll arrive, need to get the stupid credit checks out the way first and I'm not sure if they even bother starting those until it's actually released(?) (I've gone for O2 out of necessity due to poor EE/t-mob/Orange signal in my new area).

Just got mine today :)

Anyone know what the stickers in the box are for? There's two sets, one is some product codes etc, the other ones are plain, what are these for?

Congratulations Doohickey! So the HO population has doubled to two owners!

The stickers are there should you break the seals and you get bored of it you could sell the phone again as unused! resealing the box!

Notsureifserious.jpg :o

Yeah I wasn't happy enough with my Xperia Z (even though it is very good). Just holding the HO, it's a world of difference in feel. Will be testing out my camera etc in due course. :)

3 owners :p em3bbs got his a few days ago, the first one on here to get one.

Photos look good there! 920 wins some, one wins some, most look more or less the same (haven't checked the full gallery out yet), certainly be more than happy with that photo quality :)

What do you think of the xperia Z screen now doohickey? :p ;) (EDIT: might be getting your opinions mixed up with some other XZ owner.......)

LOL ;)

I'm not surprised that the HO feels more "premium" than the Z not the Z is anything but plastic feeling or cheap looking.

Will be interested to see how the camera samples hold up compared to the Z :D

Three(!) owners? How could I miss em3bbs, well congratulations goes out to him being the first owner here over at OCUK! :D

Yep I say the same, if the samples end up like that then I'd be more than happy too! :)

I may have gotten you confused with some other XZ owner doohickey :p

Video comparing optimus G, xperia Z and one:

One looks really good although it seems like it is slow for focusing up close. HDR looks fantastic, wouldn't think that it was a dark cloudy/gloomy day with the way it brightens every thing up. Looked the smoothest out of those 3.

Really impressed with the optimus G recording as well.

edit;

another one:

Xperia Z looks better overall there, smoother etc.
