*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Hi guys,

My HTC Desire contract runs out in August. I want to get a One X and keep my number, what's the best deal going at the moment? I need around 400 mins called unlimited texts and 1g of data

Thanks, would I be able to keep all my contacts and text messages?

Also, would I have to stay with the same tarriff? Orange? It would help as I would like to try and get them to buy me out of my last 2 months.

Contacts should be synced to Gmail so will appear on your new phone when you log in to your Google account. There are plenty of ways to transfer messages, I think HTC have it built in somewhere.

You can pick any new network/tariff you like, it won't affect your number etc, as long as you get a PAC code from Orange.

Not all my contacts are synced to gmail, some are however, can I change this on my desire so they all are?

kl thanks, any reason why 3 seem so much cheaper??

This looks good to me, there's no way I'd be getting insurance.

I've been using a HTC Desire for over 2 years and need an upgrade now, I prefer this over the S3 which I was waiting for...

Thinking of picking one up soon?
  • How is the XDA rom front?
  • Any issues that I should look for?
  • What is the battery like? I had AWFUL battery with my Desire, as in losing 40% by 11am with not a lot of usage! :O

ROM front im not too sure about, have a look at XDA and see whats there but when i looked the other day, there are a few floating about but not sure what they are like because tbh i cant be bothered to get into all this rooting busines personally. For me the One X works pretty well without having to faff around with rooting.

Issues??...probably the main one which is screen flickering issue as its been reported on many pages here. Other than that i cant see any other issues, i personally dont have any of the screen flickering issues.

Battery life??...well from my useage which is a bit of web browsing, few calls, texts and emails...its pretty good. Much better than the old Desire i had. Again it varies with your useage but from what i have seen, battery life is pretty decent. I will say that my One X isnt my main device so other than listening to my music, browsing the net and a few other things...for me the battery life is much better than i expected it to be.

Anyone else having mobile network issues? Once I leave a wifi area my phone doesn't switch over to the mobile network, when you check mobile network it says "disconnected because service is unavailable". If you restart the phone or flip between flight mode it works again. My phone is with 3, though, I think it's a hardware problem.

My HD2 has always done this and it's a different model entirely. Same issue though.

I have to either go in and out of flight mode or switch to 2g Data only and back to 3G. Even after that it takes a good 30-45 seconds to kick in mobile data.

2/3G switching is faster but still very annoying. If I do not force a switch it could take a good 10 minutes before my phone realises and actually picks up a mobile data connection.

I've never experienced this problem. My phone switches as needed with no issues. Unusual issue though.

The ROM front seems pretty good. As HTC have given the tools to unlock the bootloader, there are several choices including 'big names' such as LeeDroid, VillainRom and Android Revolution.

Battery is a weird one. I was getting just 16-18 hours, then just 12 hours a time, a wipe and re-install and I seem to be getting up to 20 hours again. My brother just went 28 hours on his One X on one of its first charges...

I've noticed similar a problem, my phone is a sim free One X. The problem happened again this Friday when I was in my local, you can't get a GSM signal in the pub however the phone will pick up the pubs wifi.
I've noticed when I leave the pub the phone is showing no signal even by the time I've had a taxi ride home the phone is still showing no signal, I have to switch the phone off and on again to get it to lock on to GSM

Hopefully when I get 1.29 it will fix it.

As i said in my other thread the one x is a great phone. I have just recieved my 3rd handset , the first 2 were sent back to chitter chatter for
1 bad screen flickering all over the screen
2 bad screen flickering and the home backlight not working
3 my new one has the orange discolouration at the bottom and along the right side of the screen.
Either i have been very unlucky or htc has major screen problems.
This handset will now be being sent back and i will be getting a blue s3 i dont care if the screen is PentILE. as long as it doesnt flicker or discolour .....

Had my One X since the day they came out and its been faultless in ever way, not had one issue yet.

Loads of roms to try out as well, currently using Villianrom just minus the Sense stuff on install to test, so you get all the htc look just without the widgests and launcher and its nice and fast, using Nova launcher.
