*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Been using my new One X last night (Wifi Only at the moment)..

I'm very impressed, I'm fully up to speed on XDA with all the issues, and amazingly this one has none!

- No loosely fitted screen
- No yellow spots
- No dead pixels
- No flickering greys
- Wifi Seemed to stay connected after 3 hours of screen off
- GPS locks within 5 seconds if I'm within sniffing distance of a window
- Came with 1.28 on it

I did find the slip case the seller gave me (original HTC alledgedly) was a bit loose, but I luckiily found a nice transparent gel case on eBay that arrived at the same time, it looks unobtrusive, protects the front screen/camera when lying on the desk and also makes the slip case fit much more snuggly (and not too tight)..

I know the S3 is quicker and possibly slightly ahead in some other ways, but I'm amazed at how performant and nice to hold/use this one is...

I might try Apex later on, with Beautiful or Fancy Widgets I can probably do without the Sense stuff, although I've already found that turning off the "Show touches" under developer options has smoothed things up a bit, that animation seemed to cause some stuttering when you lift your finger and the animation decays..

As far as cheap gel cases go, that doesn't look too bad. I quite fancy an official HTC leather pouch myself.

The GS3 is going to be the better phone when compared side by side (by 'enthusiasts'), but in the real world people are going to pick them based on HTC Sense/TouchWiz and the design of the phone, and when it comes to design (and software design), HTC have done a better job.

Picking one over the other is easily justifiable either way. Thankfully the GS3 wasn't so good that it made anyone regret going for an X, and many people have decided to get an X based on the fact the GS3 isn't all that good looking.

Oh dear - so what are people doing? I had beautiful widgets on my old desire but wasn't overly impressed.

I'm using Sense for now, but there are plenty of decent widgets around.

If you're bored and have some time to kill, have a read through this thread, people usually post their widgets, or get asked about them and then answer:

Some nice stuff in there!

snowstorm widget or fancy widgets or palmary weather widgets or beautiful widgets :p

And then for the rest check out android pro widgets, pure calendar/music/agenda etc.

Got my fitbag case yesterday, finally after a 2 weeks wait. Originally i was planning to get a Sena leather one but they hadnt released it, i see now they have lol. Anyhow cost me about 26 euros from amazon and im pretty impressed with it.

Its not a leather slip case but rather an alacantra slip case ie the outside is alacantra and the inside has a micro fibre lining to it.

Havent got any pics to hand as my BB9900 takes rubbish pics sadly but i have to say i do like the case, it covers the phone completely when its inside and the phone does slip out easily when you take it out but not to the extent that it slips out when its in your hand, bag or pocket.

the thing with transparent gel cases is that they get yellow-ish in a few weeks :(

It depends, older gel cases used to yellow no matter what the colour, the newer TPU stuff seems much better, and for £3, if it lasted 4-6 months you could throw them away..

I've got the same case. I really like it. Doesn't add to the bulk very much at all, which for a big phone is really what was my primary consideration. It's also pretty resilient, quite tight fitting, and looks good.

Makes the phone far less "slippy" in your hand and when you have got it on a car seat.

Mine arrived tuesday, love it. Haven't seen or read all of the issues but mine doesn't seem to have anything wrong with it. Having had a Desire before, Sense has come a long way. Is it worth ditching it just yet?
