*** The official HTC One X thread ***

The issue with phones is, there will always be something better around the corner.

I doubt we'll see anything from HTC until November time, so you should probably buy now.

If you get the new One X or whatever around Christmas, there will be talk of the Galaxy S 4 and so on... which will be better still.

I'd just get one now. As Robbo says, and seemingly with smart phones more than usual tech, there will always be something else just around the corner. There's nothing about my OneX that would make me swap it for any other current phone. The only other option for me is the S3, and like yourself, with the looks it's not really an option anyway.

Okidoke, think I'll go for it! Just looked on O2's site, and they're doing a contract for 200 minutes, plus 250 O2-to-O2 minutes, unlimited texts and 500Mb data allowance for 21 quid. The lack of minutes doesn't bother me, mostly because I'm deaf anyway and don't call people that much. :p

Much better than the 35 quid I'm paying per month for my Desire at any rate :( Definately time to get shut of that contract...

To be honest, most of the reason I'm considering the OneX over the SIII is the fact that I just cannot get along with the looks of the SIII. I just don't know whether I should plump for the OneX now, or wait until this fabled 28nm version is released (if it even is on the cards for the UK).

Pretty much what Robbo said. Phone technology is increasing rapidly fast, dual cores were only released last year and this year we have quad and the standard will be 720P res for the screens now.

And there will be more than just a few devices around xmas time, which will be better or on par with the GS 3 etc.

Basically you go for the GS 3 for these reasons:

- faster and smoother
- better CPU and much much better GPU
- better 1080P recording
- better audio
- IMO a better screen for the pitch blacks and vibrant colours
- more comfortable to hold than the X
- better battery life
- better developing community
- SD slot

And you go for the X for these reasons:

- much nicer looking overall
- very good screen if you prefer more natural colours and slightly sharper text
- software is much better overall regarding features and the looks IMO. Touchwiz has loads of gesture stuff and features like smart stay etc. however, as we have witnessed so far we can get pretty much all the features of touchwiz/GS 3 on any other android phone now, copy of smart stay that works great on the HTC one mobiles, touchwiz launcher with the widgets and S-voice, all work superbly and it is only a matter of time till we get the other things :p, you won't be able to do the same with any other phone brand and HTC's stuff like the widgets, apps etc. you can get apps that are the same more or less but from my experience aren't anywhere near the sense apps, of course there are apps that are better than some of the sense stuff, I have yet to find an app that is better overall than the sense dialer, calendar, camera, gallery (IMO) and I also prefer the sms app (but go sms etc. are better overall)
- camera for photos is more or less the same, however, the camera UI is far better IMO and has load more features

Those last 2 reasons are very big factors for me personally and others.

Should have a play with both the X and GS 3 to see what you think of the software.

Just make sure you're okay with 500MB data, it will be fine unless you're planning on streaming a lot of internet radio/video.

Guys, I've been using Leedroid (always liked his roms) with NO Sense (there is an option on install to de-Sense it) but it still has so many Sense apps running.

As I really couldnt care less about Sense.. can someone recommend a good Rom for me.

Requirements:

Stable
Everything working - no "all works except....."
Good Power Consumption
Lite (no bloat) - AOSP presumably ensures bloat-free
Minimum background tasks running

Thanks guys

how many gmail accounts are u syncing? how many emails do u normaly get a day? do u use twitter, facebook, linkedIn and any RSS reader like Pulse?

Do you listen to music as well.

What about apps similar to avf/talk photography? basicaly a mobile app for there forums? do u use those or something similar that auto notifies you of a new post etc?

Here we go again. Is is where you tell us you're getting 'thousands of emails a day?'

For the sake of the read: that's three Gmail accounts pushing the usual stuff, contacts, emails and calendar. Twitter, Facebook, Yammer and Google+ are pushing as is Instagram.

As for the forum emails you seem so interested in, I've got OCUK, AVF and a selection of smaller forums pushing new replies to my email account too. I don't use Tapatalk because it's pointless with a screen this big and Chrome installed.

As you can see from the usage though, I didn't use the thing an awful lot because I wanted to see how much life I could get out of it. I'll be using it more today, and the screen time will increase. That, as I've tried to say before, is where the power goes.

Edit: I forgot Gtalk running and receiving messages.

Got my white one x a couple of days ago to replace my desire.

Its hard to see how the SG3 could be better than this. I went for this over the SG3 mainly because of build quailty and how it feels. Ive played with both the SG1/2 and ive seen better plastic come out of a christmas cracker.

It depends what you're looking for, but it's not that much better, no.

The two key things on the S3 are the better battery life and SD card slot. Some of the other bonuses are the better HD video recording and better internals.

I've detailed many of them here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18417660

Let's just hope your screen doesn't pop out, get screen flex or have the wifi/bluetooth antenna issue ;)

Yes I own the One X.

u on avf? o dear

Anyone have any idea why I have not signal on my One X yet my HTC Sensation gets 2 bars, I've got them both on at the same time could that be why? Think they are the same number.

When finding my number in calls it comes up with "connection problem or invalid MMI code"

I'm just flicking through the SGS3 accessories thread, do we need one for the One X? I'm tempted to get one of those Rock cases, and I want a dock too.

Would anyone post in an accessories thread? Seems to have really tailed off in here of late.
