*** The official HTC One X thread ***

now that ive unlocked the bootloader and installed clockwork mod recovery what roms do people suggest trying? I like sense so will be sticking with that, my first choice is going to be ARHD but if anyone can think of any benefits of others over that let me know :)

Wish id decided to get a onex 3 months ago.........

Anyone using any nice back covers? After something thin and ligth weight but looks good.

I've tried a few which annoyed me and eventually went for the HTC One X Official Hard Case in white which is great, hardly adds anything to the phone, is tough and looks good. Doesn't protect the camera lens though

Anyone had any issues with Orange answer phone with the One X ? I dial it up fine but it's not accepting the "key" presses to choose menu options ...

Can't help you with that but I got sick of Three's system of sending you a txt when they got round to it to let you know you had voicemail. Dial into voicemail and by the time the 'machine' had done the greets and read the number of the person who left the message you had about lost the will to live. To get round this I subscribed to Hullomail (on the market) and it downloads voicemail and presents it in a very manageable fashion. I'm sure there must be a down side though not found it yet. It watches for voicemail and missed calls and seems to notify straight away. It must download to its server and delete off the Three server as far as I can tell. For me it works well.

Oh good grief.. (my job taught me so thats my excuse)

This is what makes me laugh. 99% of consumers have no idea what they are buying. Just listen to the idiot who says "Three coverage is crap so I went to Orange" not knowing that Three's signal is carried on Orange on the 2G frequencies and arguably Three's 3G network is one of the best.

High frequencies carry more data but struggle to get into buildings well. Hence most 3G coverage indoors isnt so good.

Low frequencies carry less data but get into buildings well.

All MNOs have 2100mhz for 3G.

The map is such

800mhz - up for auction - 4G
900mhz - 02/Voda - 2G services but O2 run 3G on this too
1800mhz - mainly EE (Orange/TMo) but O2/Voda have a little - 2G but 4G soon for EE
2100mhz - everyone - 3G only
2600mhz - up for auction - 4G

Lol, Three have dropped Orange 2G support, it is 3G only now.....
Check the internet for source ;)

Can someone on O2 let me know what APN settings their using? Im running JellyBean and it wont let me send/receive mms

Thanks

Check out Rock covers, i got one of ebay for about £8, adds hardly anything to the phone, and it is raised above the camera to protect the lense

Brings the ability to underclock and undervolt. Two big things can can improve battery life. So far so good for me. It idles well, but I've hardly had any battery issues. Only when I am in bad signalled areas does my battery die fast but otherwise stock kernel has also been very good.

Interesting tweet from Paul O'Brien ;)

Yowza. The One X+ seriously rocks the benchmarks! Early software, over 7500 in Quadrant, nearly 14k in Antutu, over 150 MFLOPS in Linpack!

Hmm, weird results those

Linpack score is no where as high as the one S/XL (assuming he actually means "just" over 150) yet obliterates it for quadrant and antutu :p

Unless he means that it is just for single thread performance? (most likely this :p)

I guess it is early software though so :p

Wow, HTC are going to release ANOTHER phone?

Yup, getting beyond a joke now the amount of phones that they are releasing.

Before the one series launched, they said they had realised what they were doing and would stop/cut back on it and concentrate on just a selected amount of phones and thus be able to provide updates/better software as a result yet they haven't, in fact I would say they have got much worse now!

This was another buying point for me when it came to new phone, not impressed and is why my next phone will most likely be one of the nexus devices.

I love a good benchmark but those are absolutely useless. May as well say it gets 36 kajiga points more in yuakyttgna v2.

Pointless update that actually does more harm than good.

(PaulOBrian is paid by HTC now right?)

You kind of get the impression that that they've moved on from the original X and S?

OK. Stock on latest ViperX works well and battery life is fairly good. I put mine on charge every night and don't have any trouble getting through the day unless I use sat nav without usb charge plugged in and even then it nails the battery. GPS and big screen I suppose

I'm guessing it's just an interim upgrade like the Sensation XE was, but this time (looking at those figures) it sounds like the internal improvements are more than just clocking the CPU higher.

Will have to keep an eye on his Twitter. :)
