*** The official HTC One X thread ***

and here comes the first annoyance,

you cant transfer files bigger than 4GB to the phone! im trying to copy a 7GB MKV and this phone is not having it as the 25GB parition of the phone is in FAT, i even formated it to NTFS and the phone just changed it back to FAT, that kinda sucks!

I can't even do that on my sgs2 either :(

It sucks for wanting to watch large MKV's splitting them is a pain :/

I like the looks of this phone shame I'm stuck in a contract for another year.

This would be a big upgrade for me and i would def be keeping it the full 2 years on any contract, but am wary will the 1gb ram be enough as at moment i am using a htc desire z which has 500mb ram and free to phone 368mb and it always seems to be loading refreshing main screen when i used few things i presume this is a ram issue as half of time only has 50mb spare to play with sometimes less

And dont want same issue other than that i no it will be a fantastic upgrade

Looks like it comes with 2.11Gb not 1Gb after checking my handset - hope this helps you to make your mind up about this handset :)

argh, I think I'm going have to swap for the One S. It's just slightly too big for my hand I feel.

Am I able to return it to the store on a cooling off period?

can't decide.

I can't understand why anyone would 'upgrade' to this (that's if you can even call it an upgrade) if you have a Nexus.

Both have:
- a similar size
- a nice design
- good software
- a similar size screen
- a similar resolution
- no memory card slot
- average/decent cameras

The only thing that this really has over the Nexus is the spec but then again the Nexus wasn't ever that great spec wise but 'it doesn't matter since it does everything it needs to do'. If you have a year old+ phone I can see why you would want this, but am I missing something, why would Nexus owners if there are any *cough*Robbo*cough* want this?

I think it's a case of upgraditis. :p

Damn! :( Will be the same for the one S as well then :(

Was going to be quite a big use for me that, as I have a ton of films that range from 4-14GB

Guess splitting a large film down into small chunks is the only work around then for now, quite a bit of a hassle that though :(

Question time:

Can this phone (one S) be plugged into a 3.5" NTFS hard drive (obviously in a external caddy that connects by USB) whilst the phone is also connected to a TV via the MHL cable or something similar and be able to play back the films on my hard drive using DICE player on the mobile and have it streaming to the TV? Hope that makes sense :p

Reasons:

- Far better design (subjective obviously)

- Far better screen

- Fairly certain a better camera

- Better internals if they are ever utilised

- Twice as much storage

That's good enough for me. It's by no means a must have upgrade but I don't care. :p

Hehe, the One S only has 10GB of user available storage, two steps forward one step back. Is HTC supporting USB on the go now?

About the same... Tegra 3 is only a little better than OMAP4, worse in some areas. All this future proof/utilise all four cores is utter nonsense.

I'd still get the One X for the screen though :p

^ It's just a bug/bad browser mod. The page is refreshing every single time you touch it.

Interesting battery life test. http://www.htc-hottocome.com/2012/04/video-htc-one-x-vs-htc-one-s-test-de_06.html
Looking at the stats (if Android reports em correctly) the Snapdragon S4 uses 4-5 times less energy pushing a qHD screen and the 4.7" IPS uses 160mAh more, per hour, over the smaller AMOLED pentile.
That's not bad for a big bright screen, the One X really should have a 2000-2500mAh battery and 28nm silicon though. (or the new Evo would do :p)
