*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Reasons:

- Far better design (subjective obviously)
- Far better screen
- Fairly certain a better camera
- Better internals if they are ever utilised
- Twice as much storage

That's good enough for me. It's by no means a must have upgrade but I don't care. :p

I forgot about the storage, but it still seems more like a sideways step from the Nexus. You are so gonna get the S3. :p

Good video and it kind of highlights why both phones are really comparable. They seem to think the Nexus has the better camera.

It will be interesting to see what the S3 brings to the table.

Hi. i currently use Pulse RSS reader and notice how its very very slow retrieving updates and adding new rss feeds when using my wifi.

when i use my 3g connection via T mobile, its fine?

Chrome browser seems fine on wifi, so does gmail, But i notice that even facebook and tweetcaster is very very slow using it via wifi.

Any suggestions?.

I tried tweaking my netgear router by reserving a local IP for my device and still diddnt work. im with"BeThere" internet.

The signal strength is max bars according to the device and my internet connection on my pc's are fast and acting normal. i am using a netgear DG834GT router.

Thanks in advance

Just in case anyone else is in the same boat...

My upgrade date is due on Wed 11th April, I guess this is because my bill is due on the 10th of each month. As I finish early on a Friday I popped into my local O2 store and asked if I paid the final bill now could I upgrade that day. Unfortunately, they said no but the store reserved one for me to pick up on Wednesday on my way home from work.

Probably, and the iPhone after that. :D

It's easier to carry a Galaxy Note around rather then 3 phones in each pocket. ;)

Best deal for the One S I've found so far is here, think I'll get this one...

It's also the o2 site now, so on the same deal as the One X I posted earlier, you can get the One S all in for £352 after the £50 cashback, which isn't too bad. No data, and hardly and minutes/texts as before but it's ideal for someone who wants it on PAYG.

I've got the Nexus and I'm seriously tempted by the One X, even though the Nexus is the best phone I've ever owned (from the iPhone, SGS2, Nexus S, LG O2X etc.)

The One X appeals to me because:

-More storage
-Better screen
-Better camera
-It's white (really like the looks and styling)
-I like certain parts of HTC sense

But it doesn't appeal to me because:

-Stock ICS is fantastic, and really doesn't need meddling with
-I think I'd miss the Nexus if I moved on

So all in all, will likely grab a One X on the credit card and see how it is for a week or so, before selling it on or getting rid of my Nexus. Decisions, decisions... first world problems :D :D

reflux, I think you should try your best (I know it's hard lol) to see what the S3 has to offer. If it has an equally impressive screen, spec and design, plus a removable battery, memory card slot, better camera, it would seem more of an upgrade rather then a sideways step. Also, watch the video posted above.

Yeah, see I like the idea of the S3 but if it looks like a cheap iPhone rip-off like S and S2 and it's saddled with TouchWiz I'll not be very tempted :( I had an S2 and loved the speed of the hardware but the iPhone comparisons were not something I could get past.

Hopefully it'll be a superphone with quad lasers and proton torpedoes though :D

I much prefer this to the Nexus if am being honest, far better camera, better screen more storage and I actually like sense on this its much nicer than other versions, love the weather widget its mint.

There is already a stock ICS rom out for this(needs work still) but in all honestly this works fine out the box for me and I see no reason to bother messing with it, so far a good purchase.

Hehe, the One S only has 10GB of user available storage, two steps forward one step back. Is HTC supporting USB on the go now?

Damn damn damn even more then............. :( :p

10GB combined with 25GB+ of dropbox storage is plenty for me for images, recorded videos, odd bit of music and the other general stuff, but since these mobiles are now capable of playing HD content smoothly then more storage is needed, however, if the below is possible, then the storage isn't a con for me any more :p

Can this phone (one S) be plugged into a 3.5" NTFS hard drive (obviously in a external caddy that connects by USB) whilst the phone is also connected to a TV via the MHL cable or something similar and be able to play back the films on my hard drive using DICE player on the mobile and have it streaming to the TV? Hope that makes sense :p

And/Or:

Plug the mobile into the TV via MHL and use an app to stream a film from my main PC to the mobile thus playing on the big screen? (pretty sure this one is possible, but just to be sure :p)

Also very nice Raikiri, another question to the additional question about 1080P MKV playback :p

What is the GPS lock like, how quick and accurately does it lock on to your position?

Think I'm going to go for the One S, the battery life is the main one for me.

People who already have their One X how long is the battery lasting?

And One S users are you able to get more than a day?

I've seen a review with just text messaging and light usage they were down to 85% battery after 8 hours on the One X. So it seems that companion core can work well when it's not heavily used.

Was tempted to look at this but battery life is a killer. I wanted to hear others experiences with it too.

SO hard to decide what to do, wait for SGS3, Huawei ascend D Quad, or take the plunge now.

Over at XDA there is a lot of complaints about the battery life, which is fair enough really its a big powerful phone.

But there is a thread saying how good the One S battery life is, lasting over a day.

Last smartphone I had was the Desire, I pretty much never had a phone. I charged it over night and come 9-10 and night so 12 hours worth of use I was left without a phone. :(

Just one MASSIVE issue there...

No hardware camera button. I came from the SE K series (750/800/850 - which had HCBs) to the HTC Touch HD (which didn't) and it was a massive step backwards in that regard. I then went to the Omnia 7 which does again. The lack of a HW camera button, especially one that wakes the phone up from sleep, is a massive let down if you actually want to use the camera much! Although I guess if you're used to android phones over the last few years then you don't realise just how much you're missing.:p
