*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Ugh, put my headphones in last night in bed and was suddenly reminded how bad HTC are at audio. If any sound is played (including screen presses) then you get about a second of audible hissing followed by a click - it's terrible! As I listen to a lod of sport/tech/comedy speech based podcasts at night before I sleep at low volume it makes this device a no-go for me. Maybe I'm used to better quality audio now but I would say this is the worst I've ever heard.

I just got a cracking upgrade deal from my Desire to a One X with T-Mobile. The offer was £29 for the handset, then £12 a month for 24 months with 100 mins, 500 texts, unlimited web browsing/750mb for downloads and an unlimited booster of either landline calls, T-Mobile calls or texts to any network.

First impressions are it's really nicely made, very quick, everything responds instantly (which was never the case on older Android phones/OSes imo). Nice and quick to set up and very easy to use.

Only downside so far is the pentile screen; I find it quite noticeable but then I am quite picky about it. Hopefully I'll get used to it, if not i'm not sure what I'll do.

This one is ISO 1200 so it's a bit noisy, but really not that bad at all.

Anyone know if 3 PAYG One X would be locked to their sims only? They are looking the cheapest without jumping through hoops @ £449 unless anyone knows of a better deal before I order :)

Thanks

Mart

Nice pics, it does look great! Perfect size too. (Hmm, wonder if you could stick a transparent cover over the camera/aerial part? :D)

There should be a few decent alternatives over the next few months, if you decide to send it back.

I'm currently getting from Vodafone:

£31 per month
600 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
1GB Data

To stick to this tarrif I'd be looking at paying £149 for the handset. So the more I think about it I'm very tempted to buy the phone Sim-Free for £480 and just continue paying Vodafone.
My Vodafone contracts was customised after they removed "Unlimited Data" on my Desire, giving my 1GB rather than the standard 500mb.

Hummm, so OK, £480 is a chunk of change, but totally stock etc.

The one thing that bugs me about the One S is the fact they went to all the trouble of "micro-arcing" the metal to make it super strong then stick plastic on the bits that have the bigger chance of impact should the phone be dropped i.e. the ends and 4 corners

How do you find top cover?
It reminds me of Desire HD bottom cover and does not bring good memories.....loose after a while etc

Where did you get this from? Sounds perfect for me.
